I really wanted to get a dirtbike and parents thought about it but then a friend broke his legs (BOTH) and they Said no beacause they got scared. So I thought a "Racing fourwheeler" but they are even more scared of that beacause.... " if a dirtbike falls in you you break a bone and if a fourwheeler falls on you, you die!"

  1. You need to get a racing rider to sit down ith them and tell them the up sides as well as the down sides.

If your Mum & Dad were not riders themselves, you have a massive hill to climb.

  2. Forget it - you can't convince them. Instead, save enough money to buy yourself - that dedication will likely impress them. Also have a PERFECT safety record with the dirtbike.

  3. Tell them youll get really good at it and go pro and make lots of money n they wont hafta work anymore.

  4. First ask them why not?

Money? Then you will need to help contribute.

Injuries? Then tell them you will always wear all the safety gear and you will ride smart. How did your friend break his legs? Racing? Not riding safely? Tell them your friend broke his legs because of those things and you will not do that. Was he wearing all of the safety gear? Say that you will only ride while they are with you. See if you can borrow your friends bike (since he cant ride now) and just try it out. Show them you are a safe rider and know what you are doing, (dont be trying anything stupid) and after a while they will understand that you ride safely and you can get your own bike.

Hope you can convince them, I'd hate to see someone being denied a dirt bike.

  5. If you are not going to race motocross then it is less likely you would injure yourself riding, but if your parents are dead against it then you have your work cut out for you. Not all parents want their children to do sports that have a record as being dangerous and who can blame them.  You just have to try and show them how keen you are.  Perhaps start buying dirtbike magazines and leave them around the house.   Ask to be taken to motocross tracks to watch the riders.  If you show enough interest your parents may give in.  If they show any sign of wavering tell them you will wear all the protective gear you can get your hands on and won't try anything that you are not capable of.

I also don't much like 4 wheelers as you are right in the consequences of one falling on top of you.

I was at the supercross 2 days ago and the pro race went off the line and 2 riders touched in the air.  They took out about 4 riders with them and they were all at top speed when it happened, thankfully only one got carted off in the ambulance with a broken wrist.  So bikes are dangerous but then so is crossing the road.
