I Need Xbox 360 Help?

If you mod an Xbox 360 so you can burn games and play them, when you update the 360 will it get fried? Please people who actually know, like people who have friends with a mod 360 or people who own a mod 360 themselves, thanks.

The short answer is that if you connect to Xbox Live and your console is detected to have been modified then that console will be banned permanently from Xbox Live. Things that will get your console blacklisted are...

- A modchip

- A non-original hard disk

- A non-original (flashed) EEPROM

You don't even have to update the Xbox; simply connecting to Xbox Live can theoretically do it. I have read that some users have managed to get around this by disabling the modchip before connecting to Xbox Live, but I can't give any guarantee if this actually works as I've never tried it.

Once your Xbox 360 is fingered as having been modded its hardware ID is added to the banned list. Once that's happened there's little can be done to get it un-banned, as the implication seems to be that if you tried it once then you're considered irredeemable. They really do mean permanently banned, and as it's tied to the console's unique hardware ID setting up fresh user profiles or Xbox Live accounts won't make any difference. Even if you remove the modchip the console remains on the banned list on the assumption it can never be trusted again.

the honest to god answer is yes, you will get banned. it may be a day after you mod it, or it may be 6 months down the road, depending on how secure of a job you do on the firmware flash and the backups, will determine how long you last, but they will eventually ban you. there is a big update coming this fall, many assume that those who are banned, will not make it through.
