  1. Roald Dahl. He wrote a collection of reeeeaaalllyy good short stories.

    Examples: The landlady, Dip in the pool, Man from the South, Pig, Parson's Pleasure...

    The list goes on.

  2. Ernest Hemingway or Kate Chopin

    PS Roald Dahl was Norwegian and raised in England, you twit.

  3. Try this web site it's got twenty you can pick from. All really good! Hope this helps!!

  4. I like Sherman Alexie- he's a Spokane Indian from the U.S.

    His writing is actually funny, sad, and easy to read. Very beautiful too.

    He writes on his experiences as an American Indian in contemporary U.S. society. He shines favorable and unfavorable light on native and non-native characters that try to bring us a little closer to his truth.

    My favorite short stories from him are:

    -What You Will Pawn I Will Redeem

    -This is What it Means to Say Phoenix, Arizona (this short story was later developed into a movie: Smoke Signals)

    -Indian Education (not to be confused with his poem)

    "The Murders in the Rue Morgue"

    "The Pit and the Pendulum"

    "The Purloined Letter"

    "The Tell-Tale Heart"

    "The Oblong Box"

    "The Premature Burial"

    "The Oval Portrait"

  6. The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, so good! She has written several books/stories but The Lottery is really gripping and hard to stop reading.

  7. I <3 short stories.

    * Ernest Hemingway

    A Clean, Well-Lit Place (considered by some to be the best short story ever written)

    Ten Indians

    The Killers

    * O. Henry

    The Last Leaf
