  1. Because you have cavities? Did you get them filled at the dentist? If you did maybe the fillings fell out if they did not put them in properly. To help you can also buy a certain toothpaste (I think it's called sensodyne) that will help ease your pain.

  2. I don't think it is normal also I don't think it is "safe" to have that many cavities.  It is possible to have none.  Anyway, they hurt because you have an infection, obviously.  It is very dangerous to have infections involving your teeth and gums, it can lead to very serious health problems.  You need to get to a dentist.

  3. Depending on the hardness of your teeth and the care you provide it can be very normal to have several cavities.  For example my sister takes really great care of her teeth and has had to have fillings put in everyone of them because she has really soft enamel.  I have hard teeth took bad care of them for years, not any more, and have 6 fillings, plus 2 crowns.  Hence taking care of them know.  COMPLETELY NORMAL!

As for the pain...it could be the type of filling you had done.  Metal fillings can irritate the tooth and gums (you can be allergic or sensitive to metals used), composite (tooth colored fillings) are more sensitive to heat, cold, and such.  Also the depth of the filling and how big it is can effect the sensitivity.  If they ache then the bite can be off and needs to be adjusted.  If the bite is off they are also more sensitive.  Be warned it can take over a year for the sensitivity to calm down.  You ought to have a dentist make sure the bite is correct and talk over your fears and sensitivity issues with them.  Most dentist can offer support and help with sensitive teeth.

Find a dentist you are comfortable with.  Maybe try the new sedation dentistery.  I am not a dentist so I can't answer your question only give you options and ideas.  I grew up around dentists and let me tell you they are regular people and most want to help you the best they can.  Best of luck.  May you be blessed.

This is normal and nothing to be scared of, a dentist is your best bet for help.

EDIT: About the health problems...If the bite is off you can't chew food right which leads to digestive issues and you don't get all the nutrience out of your diet.  If you are sensitive to the type of filling then it can cause abdominal pain, head aches, vomiting and agrivate your allergies, and the list goes on.... check out these sites below it may help, not there to freak you out, use you own judgement.
