  1. There are tons of recipes on the Internet and in popular teen magazines, but here are some simple ones I like:

    Avocado Facial Mask Recipe

    This is quite simple recipe. Just open a medium sized avocado, throw away the pulp and shell. Mash the avocado in a small bowl, until the texture is creamy. Massage into face and neck, leave on for fifteen minutes and then rinse. Beautiful!

    Apple Zinger Facial Mask Recipe (for the oily and/or acne prone skin)

    Grate one medium sized apple very finely, and then pour 5 tbsp of honey into a bowl. Mix well. Spread over skin, and let sit for about ten minutes. Rinse with cool water.

    Banana Wrinkle Fighter Recipe

    You may not know it, but banana is a wonderful anti-wrinkle product. Mash 1/4 banana until creamy smooth. Spread over face and leave on for fifteen to twenty minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

    Carrot Facial Mask Recipe

    Cook 2 to 3 large carrots until soft, then mash in a small bowl. Add 4 tbsp honey. Smooth over skin, wait for ten minutes and then rinse off with cool water.

    Egg, Avocado & Mud Facial Mask Recipe (my favorite!)

    You can purchase powdered clay at most health food stores. Mix 1 tbsp dry clay with 1 egg yolk, 1/4 mashed up avocado, and a bit of hazel to create a soft textured mixture. Spread over face, leave on until dries and then rinse off with warm water.

    Egg & Honey Mask Recipe

    In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp honey, 1 egg yolk, ½ tsp almond oil, and 1 tbsp yogurt together. Once smooth, spread over face, leave on for ten minutes and then rinse off with warm water. You will find your skin feeling tighter and younger.

    Egg Whites Facial Mask Recipe

    Simply beat one egg white until frothy and then spread on face. Leave on for fifteen minutes and then rise with warm water. Your face will feel tighter.

    Egg Yolk Facial Mask Recipe

    Just as simple as the egg whites facial mask, stir up one egg yolk and then apply onto face. Leave on for thirty minutes, then rinse with warm water. This recipe combats blemishes quite well.

    Honey Mask Recipe

    This is quite a simple recipe. Wash your face with warm water to open up the pores, and then smear on honey. Leave on for fifteen to thirty minutes, and then rinse off with warm water.

    this will soothe your skin & make it very soft.

    mix together plain yogurt, egg yolk and honey.

    two tablespoons of yogurt, one egg yolk and one tablespoon of honey.

    apply to clean skin.

    let dry for about 15 minutes...

    rinse well with warm water.

    ( you can store it in the fridge for about 2 days)

    or..try this one:

    one teaspoon of powdered milk, one tablespoon of ground almonds, one tablespoon of honey, one teaspoon of aloe vera gel.

    10-15 minutes on face.

    ( can store in fridge for a week)

    • Honey for Best Facial

    The best facial mask that i have found is honey. Use warm cloth to open pores, smear on honey, leave on 15 to 30 minutes, rinse off with warm water, and then use cold water to close pores. Use for 3 days in a row and then once a week. Sometimes I mix a little gound oatmeal with the honey, which makes a great mask.

    Facial Feels Good

    One my daughter and I had fun with and found to have a cleansing and softening effect was to mix regular clean kitty litter, the clay kind, with water and strain out the grit. It really felt good.

    Exfoliating Mask

    For an easy exfoliating mask, mix three tablespoons olive oil or any good oil and one tablespoon kosher salt mix and gently rub into dry skin. Do not use around eye area. This works great on elbows and feet, but it can also be used on cheeks and forehead

    Egg Whites

    I use egg whites. Just beat one egg white until it is frothy. Spread it all over your face. Wait until it dries. Rinse it off. My face feels very clean and "tight" after this application. And then I use the yolk for cooking.( I have yet to have found a use for the shell)

    Egg Yolk

    The best homemade facial mask that I have used is a raw egg yolk. just apply the raw yolk to your face and neck for 30 minutes and rinse with cool water. Egg yolks are high in vitamin A. The mask is very effective in healing blemishes.

    Match Mask to Your Skin Type

    For trouble-prone skin, mix oatmeal with water to form a paste.

    For normal to oily skin, use an egg white.

    For dry skin, use an egg yolk.

    In all cases, spread mixture on face and allow to dry. Rinse thoroughly with cool water.

    For oily skin, witch hazel makes an inexpensive toner.

    For dry skin, you may want to add moisturizer while skin is still damp.

    Susan

    Oatmeal

    The cheapest and best facial mask I have ever come up with is oatmeal processed to a powder in the blender and either skim milk or if you are trying to fade spots lemon juice. Really works well for me and I have dry skin.

    More Facial Maks Choices

    The kind of the mask you want to use depends on your skin type.

    For dry skin, try:

    * an egg yolk mixed with olive oil and warmed honey

    * sour cream

    * plain olive oil

    * avocado

    For oily skin:

    * dissolve a teaspoon of baking yeast in a small amount of warm milk, wait until foamy, then apply (best done in the bath tub);

    * puree flesh of a tomato and mix with some potato flour to make a paste;

    * cucumber (it will whiten your skin);

    * beaten egg whites with a few drops of lemon juice (great for getting rid of blackheads);

    * carrots (but don't use this one more than about every other week because it can overdry your skin). This one will make you look tanned.

    General refreshing masks:

    * grapes (just cut a berry in half and rub lightly)

    * strawberries (test behind your ear first, because many people are alergic to strawberies used this way even thougth they can eat them just fine)

    * honey and ricotta cheese

    Many fruits and vegetables can also be used to good effect. Anything acidic (lemon, strawberries, etc) will tend to whiten and refresh your skin, but you need to be careful if your skin is dry.

    In general, don't apply masks more often than about twice a week, and try to vary the ingredients.

    It is a good idea to test the mask first. Apply a small amount behind your ear, wait 20 minutes, then wash off. Then wait 24 hours. If the skin behind your ear is normal, then go ahead and use the mask.

    Egg Yolk and Honey

    I reader recently asked if anyone had a recipe for homemade facial masks. I often use an egg yolk and honey mask. Just mix one egg yolk with a little honey and spread it on your face and neck. When it dries, rinse it off. Your skin will feel so fresh and soft!

    • Lukewarm water

    [edit] Steps

    1. Collect the ingredients together.

    2. Crush the pineapple and papaya and squeeze the juice of each fruit into a bowl.

    3. Add the oatmeal and a tablespoon of natural honey.

    4. Mix well.

    5. Wet your face with lukewarm water, (the water acts to prepare and dry your skin)

    6. Gently massage the exfoliant into your skin using circular motions, being careful not to get any into your eyes.

    7. Leave exfoliant scrub on for about 5 minutes.

    8. Moisten a face cloth with warm water.

    9. Gently remove the exfoliant being careful not to get any in your eyes.

    10. Once removed, dry your face with a clean towel by patting your face to remove excess water. And there you have it - super radiant skin- the natural way!

    11. Use a moisturiser to help seal the nutrients, apply sparsely to prevent clogging of the pores.

    [edit] Tips

    • By using natural fruit and ingredients, the scrub with give your skin a more revitalised look and smell very yummy!

    • Try adding coconut flakes instead or as well as the oatmeal to give your body a sweet smelling sensation

    • For a body scrub mix up an extra large batch, and add sugar and some strong tea (black no sugar) which has cooled down, this helps put natural antioxidants back into your skin.

    • For a high antioxidant facial, try natural honey all over your face.

    Homemade facial masks for All Skin Type

    Mask 1. Milk Mask

    This is one if the simplest and cheapest mask. Damp some cotton wool with milk and rub it on the face.

    Mask 2. Egg Mask

    Avacado Face Mask: Avocados make excellent face masks for dry skin. They boast 14 minerals as antioxidant vitamins E and A. To prepare a face mask, mash up avocado, add a touch of sweet almond oil and smooth the mixture over your face, keep it on for as long as possible to nourish and soften the skin.

    Marie Antoinette's homemade facial mask: This mask is effective for all skin types, but the witch hazel and lemon can be harsh on dry skin. For preparing this face pack you will need the following ingredients - 1 egg, Juice of one lemon, 4 tbsp cup non-fat dry milk powder and 1 tbsp witch hazel. Put all the ingredients in a blender or food processor and mix well. Alternatively, you can blend them together by using a fork or a wire whisk. Apply the mixture to your face, neck and chest and allow it to dry for around 15 minutes. Use the remaining cream as a cleanser to remove the mask. Then, rinse your face thoroughly with warm water and pat dry.

    Honey Cleansing Scrub: Mix 1 tablespoon honey with 2 tablespoons finely ground almonds and ½ teaspoon lemon juice. Rub gently onto face. Rinse off with warm water.

    Gentle Oatmeal Face Mask: A good face mask for oily skin, this recipe is sufficient for one treatment and must be applied as soon as it is mixed. Mix 15 ml/1 tbsp runny honey and 1 egg yolk together in a small bowl, then slowly stir in enough (60 ml) oatmeal to make a soft paste. Smooth the mask in to the skin of the face and neck and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat your skin dry.

    Face Masks Application Tips

    Your skin can change with the seasons. Skin that becomes oily in the hot summer months can become drier in winter and in central heating. So take your skin's quirks into account when choosing your mask.

    Cleanse your face before applying the chosen face mask. Afterwards, rinse with warm water and than apply moisturizer.

    Most face masks should be left on the skin for between 3 and 10 minutes. For the best results, read the instructions carefully.

    If you have combination skin, use two masks - one suitable for oily skin and one for dry skin. Just apply each one to the area that needs it.

    Homemade Facial Masks Suggestions Submitted by Alex

    The kind of the mask you want to use depends on your skin type.

    For dry skin, try these -

    an egg yolk mixed with olive oil and warmed honey

    sour cream

    plain olive oil

    avocado

    For oily skin, try these -

    dissolve a teaspoon of baking yeast in a small amount of warm milk, wait until foamy, then apply (best done in the bath tub)

    puree flesh of a tomato and mix with some potato flour to make a paste

    cucumber (it will whiten your skin)

    beaten egg whites with a few drops of lemon juice (great for getting rid of blackheads)

    carrots.

    * MAYONNAISE. Apply whole egg mayonnaise on your face (right from the jar) for about 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water.

    * PEACH & BRANDY. Mash up a peach (use ripe, canned or frozen) and mix in a tablespoon of brandy. Leave it on for 20 minutes, then rinse off.

    * TOMATO MASK. For oily skin, mash up a ripe tomato and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with warm (not hot) water.

    * BANANA MASH. Mash up a very ripe banana. Add just enough honey to make a soft pulp. Apply over face and hair. This is such a great firming mask that aging movie stars have been known to put it in the cups of their bras to make their b*****s "perky." (Just make sure that you don't use too much honey and you use a sturdy bra.)

    * HONEY MASK. Apply pure honey (straight from the bottle) to your face and neck. Allow it to set until dry (about 15 minutes). Rinse with very warm water.

    * MILK OF MAGNESIA. Apply it straight from the bottle. Let it dry for about five to ten minutes. Rinse off with warm water, then gently pat your face dry with a fluffy towel.

    * PEPTO BISMOL. This is a face mask particularly suited for those with sensitive skin. In the same way that this product coats the stomach, it gently caresses the face. Apply it straight from the bottle, using a cotton swab. Allow to dry, then rinse with cool water.

  4. I am a Registered Nurse and I specialize in skin care and teen acne.

    Your question is very broad and you need to get professional advice. I will explain why it's a broad question!

    Your age plays a role! How old are you? Do you always have breakouts?

    However, acne can result from several factors such an increase in hormone levels. In males testosterone or androgens. In females, androgens respectively. The increase in androgen levels can stimulate the oil glands to become enlarged and thus more oil production is produced. An increased oil production can clog the pores with oil or sebum ( white thick substance) which cause the cell walls of the pores in the skin to breakdown. This process allows bacteria to form and thus breakouts develop.

    Genetics may also be a cause. It is a myth that greasy food or chocolate causes breakouts.

    However, using make-up sponges that are not changed or washed often can contaminate the pores with bacteria which may develop into acneic breakouts.

    If you are a teenager ( which I assume that you are) your hormones play a definite role in your breakouts.

    If you have severe breakouts than you might need medication. There are many factors.

    The most important thing is that you need products that are AGE APPROPRIATE! Every age group has different products appropriate for them. If you are young than you need milder products as to not dry out your beautiful young skin.

    The problem with commercial skin products is that they are manufactured for MASSES OF PEOPLE and are not specifically made for different peoples' needs.

    Your skin type is different than mine and your age differs from mine so how is it logical that we both use the same skin product for breakouts. We need different strengths of cleansers and toners. Do you kind of understand what I am getting at?

    Here is my STRONG SUGGESTION for you. I refer all my students and patients to this website:

    www.aboutyourskincare.com

    You need to consult with professionals and on this website YOU CAN ASK QUESTIONS FOR FREE AND A SKIN EXPERT/PHYSICIAN WILL ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. It would be a shame if you dont take advantage of this free service.

    Lastly, they have incredible products for breakouts and they make them specifically for every kind of skin type. That means that if your breakouts are more severe than mine, than while we both will buy the same product yours will have stronger ingredients than mine will.

    They have a mild glycolic acid cleanser that's great for your type of skin and also a DRYING LOTION ( I have 3 bottles) that you put directly on your breakouts and the next day it's gone. It's truely magic in a bottle.

    A basic guideline for properly taking care of your skin is this ( now if you're a young girl you will need fewer products than this):

    Night time:

    1. Exfoliate the skin

    2. Mild Glycolic Acid Cleanser

    3. Mild Glycolic Acid Toner ( cleans off the excess debris and balances the PH level of the skin).

    4. Drying Lotion used only on breakouts

    5. Moisturizer

    Morning:

    1. Mild Glycolic Acid Cleanser

    2. Moisturizing cream

    The above is a standard you may need to only use one or two products. Visit: www.aboutyourskincare.com

    As I suggested and click on the ASK FOR FREE section send them an email and you will get free expert skin care advice.
