I PUT A OIL PUMP IN MY FORD AND FOUND A PEACE OF A LIFTER IN OIL PAN?

WHAT SHOULD I DO GET MOTOR OR FIX THE LIFTER ITS ON A F250 4*4 1985 MY NAME IS STARLENE

  1. are you sure it is part of a lifter ?  a lifter is all metal.  my bet is the piece you found is plastic- and that would have come off a tooth of the cam gear.  this is a very common problem on older/high mileage vehicles=the cam teeth are actually made of plastic to keep engine noise down.  with higher mileage/older vehicles the plastic dries out and becomes brittle and breaks off and falls into the oil pan.  


  2. have you pulled the valve cover off yet to make sure it is part of a lifter?

    usually if they break they are too big to drop into the pan.  If it is it will be cheaper to replace the lifter than to buy a new motor. But if the lifter is broke you need to check the cam as well cause if it flopped around in there the cam could become scared causing more problems down the road
