I-Pod problems (Not showing up) ?

Question

First of all I have a mac computer, My I-Pod has never done this and I have had it for almost 2 years and when i plug it in it wont show up on the computer or my I-Tunes or anything but it will charge it but there is no way to put songs or eject it. I can only eject it by turning off my computer. Do you know why its doing this? Please help. Thank you for all off your answers :)
