  1. in planning dont be very specific. plan in a general manner. set a deadline for your work that is it. try to finish all of your work in that given time. what happened is you were discouraged because you failed to do the things that you have planned. the more you failed doing it the more that you got discouraged. so plan in general!

in regarding to motivation here is for you:

Plan ahead. If you have a study hall, do as much of it there as possible. The more you do when you are in class, the less you will have to do at home. Try to do it in class if time is provided and at lunch, or any other spare time you might have.

Get motivated. Promise yourself a reward for finishing the dreadful homework, such as an activity you enjoy or anything that you would find enjoyable and doable after you finish. Don't use food as a reward, however! Save a special magazine to read when homework is done or make plans to talk with a friend on the phone as soon as both of you have completed your assignments. Also take advantage of any holidays or vacations that may be coming near. On a Thursday, remind yourself that it is almost the weekend. Remind yourself that Thanksgiving, winter break, or summer break is nearing.

Break it up. Take regular breaks. Set a timer; take at most 10 minutes of break for each hour you study. A fried brain absorbs little information. Get up, stretch, and move around...and reward yourself for what you've accomplished so far.

Think of the consequences. What will happen if you don't do your homework? You'll get a bad grade? Your teacher will be disappointed in you? If none of these things seem to apply to you, remember that homework is to help you learn, which everyone ultimately wants. In the real world, knowledge helps you master the rules of the game...and if you don't know the rules, how are you going to win? If Knowledge is Power...Ignorance is minimum wage.

Find a place with less distraction. Set up your special study place. No friends, television, or other potential distractions should be present. Your homework place should also have a hard surface, like a table, to write on. If you need to do most or all of your homework on a computer (as many high school students do) make sure to avoid chat programs, unrelated websites, etc. If you have difficulty keeping focused (or awake), consider doing your homework at the library, at a table with some amount of foot traffic passing by it. The quiet atmosphere will help you focus, the surrounding mild activity will help keep you from falling asleep, and if you get stuck, there are those helpful librarians and references.

Get the work done, savor your reward. Don't cut it short or change the plan. Take as much enjoyment from your reward as possible.

you can set goals but it is really up to you if you will do it or not. control your self. do not let your emotions control you.

  2. I assume you're in high school?

Yea, it's called being in high school.

95% of people are like this. Chill out, you aren't going to find a fix for it. You just have to be able to handle doing the work load last minute.

  3. Now if you get tired of hanging around all the other whiners on here - listen to this! I heard this and it helped me a lot. Two things: Momentum and rewards.

If you are get all stressed about reading a chapter - embody the NIKE logo and Just Do It! Just read the first 5 lines - like RIGHT NOW! Even before you finish reading the rest of this answer! GO do it now - GO!

Second of all :) your brain obviously thinks not doing it is more fun than doing it! So here's the thing - you gotta set yourself disciplined rewards - so that you finally realize that doing the task sets you free, and you need to reward yourself with something you like at the end of each 'chapter', say! Anything you like: food, tv, exercise, sports... whateva!

I've suggested a plan here! Ofcourse the plan only works if you work the plan. Just Do It!

  5. I am probably the biggest procrastinator ever.. There are times where I hardly get around to doing what I want to do or what I'm supposed to do, and it can range from many things in my life... On weekends sometimes, I delay getting up because I just don't feel like it or I'm too lazy, or it's too much effort.. I often don't buy gifts for people on special occasions because I leave it to the last minute.. Oh, and I rarely finsh a book I start reading... It has become a huge problem in my life and I know it's not normal. I don't know how to get out of it, so I can't even provide some advice... but you're not alone..

  6. I'm the same. I just can't seem to focus on my university work.

  7. It could just be a habit that you've fallen into, or the topic just doesn't interest you enough for you to be motivated. I spent all of high school and my first two years of college thinking I just wouldn't ever be able to get organized and ahead. I couldn't concentrate on anything that I needed to do and would put stuff off until the last minute. I got fine grades because studying never really helped me anyway and I could get good grades without it just from retaining knowledge from class. I finally went to my doctor my sophomore year of college and she diagnosed me with ADD. I got medication and now I'm super organized and doing way better in school. If it sounds like something you might have, you should talk to you doctor. Check out the symptoms too. Good luck on that AP English! http://www.helpguide.org/mental/adhd_add...

  8. your stressing too much....just give yourself some time as you gradually complete what needs to be completed

and by the way, you probably get distracted easily and slack off quite often....so i suggest you reduce that type of behaviour, and eventually you will be finished!!!

    gudluk=]

  9. You should read some of it before you go to bed each night.

  10. hey :)

Im EXACTLY the same. For ages I thought there was something wrong with me, and it doesnt help when everyone you know is always *perfectly* organised and motivated..

I know how u feel though.. fair enough, your not some freekin robot. Maybe, you just learn differently. Some people hate doing stuff when they feel like they're being told what to do..I find school difficult cause I always get put off by being told I HAVE to do something, and given deadlines and all that c**p.. your probably just a free thinker haha.

just do it 'in your own way' lol. If it means staying up till 4am on the due date of an assignement..or skipping a few math classes to finish some book study, or bribing someone to do it lol,whatever..  Its not the best haha but it works for me anyway :) and i get good grades so what the h**l. But find something that u *love* to do, which you dont procrastinate with..give it your everything, and all the other stuff doesnt matter. for me its art:)

  11. I'll tell you your problem right now.

    No, maybe later...

    Ask me tomorrow.

It's a habit you've formed by fooling yourself that you can get whatever it is you need to get done right now later and everything will be all right.  The fact is you're already way behind so

never put off until tomorrow what you can do today.

Try starting small and taking on a little more each day.

    Get busy

    Good luck

  12. Don't do it all at once.  I procrastinate too.  I take lots of breaks during homework.

  13. I work best when im under pressure, i.e. doing work on the last day that it is due. Its almost an animal instinct to do your homework when youre under pressure, so set yourself a goal. For example, if your going out on the weekend, do a good chunk of your homework. So that the next day you have the easy homework to do which doesnt involve lots of thinking.
