I know how difficult it is to get in but i am very passionate about my grades and i have a 4.375 gpa. I don't want to pay the out of state tuition. I don't know what to do if i get in? should i move down there and wait a year before applying? PLEASE HELP :)

  1. I'm from ohio and really want to go there to. don't worry about having to pay the out of state tuition. most out of staters are there on a scholarship. also just make sure you have a lot of volunteer hours and e.c activities if your grades are that good then you have a shot my plans are a 4.2 G.P.A 12 e.c activities and 200 hrs of community service.  also try do do something amazing publish a book or poem something that will really make you stand out.

  2. Research on what type of scholarships you can apply to. That may help a lot with tuition fees. I'd say your GPA will make you stand out a bit, but also do a little community service. When paired up against another applicant with the same score, extracurriculars and community service can help you get the upper hand.

Practice writing your college essay now. Work on it until it's perfect, and then revise it for editing. Also, apply for other colleges similar to UCLA. There is no guarantee that you will get in. Concerning that, some colleges will take a second look at your application if they know they have competition.

If you're worried about traveling costs, try asking your parents. The deal I have with my parents is: I will get the scholarship money for tuition costs, and they will pay my plane ticket. We're still debating on costs for dorm living, books, etc.

  3. just cause you have a 4.375 doesnt garantee you a spot, so getting in would be the first thing to do.

i know someone who applied to USC with a very similar grade point average then you and got rejected. you have to have a lot of extra clubs and stuff and your essays have to be really good. and you should move to california while you are still in high school if you want to pay in-state tuition. also, if you get in just apply to a lot of scholarships. that's the best you can do. since you have a high gpa im pretty sure you can get a lot of scholarships. anyways hope everything works out.
