  1. do it whatever it takes my mother home schooled all five of us kids, she's the best.

I am so lucky to have a mom and dad that gave up so much just for us kids.

  2. Yes, definitely do what the other posters have said, Google it all.  Then find a local Home school play group so you and your 2nd grader can mingle with other HSing families and form a support system for you.

2nd grade is sooo much fun, lots of hands on activities, learning field trips etc, Good Luck!

  3. This is the best site bar none I also urge yo to utilize their services once your decision is final they are a HUGE help to home-schooling family's they help to protect the RIGHTS of parents to home-school freely.

The first time your child starts talking about something that "you" taught them its so exciting!

Good Luck its a wonderfully scary adventure that's well worth the ride and rewarding beyond compare.

  4. Here are the laws for GA:

You might want to look into GVA, also:

  5. Google your state and homeschool rules, because every state is differnet. I live in NC and we can't just pull our kids out, you have to do everything in order, file for you notice of intent to hs and then withdraw papers at school, but however I was lucky I took mine out before he turned 7- because in the state of NC children do not have to be registered in school until the age of 7, so we tried kindergarden and it just didn't work for us, We have hs for 4 years and loving it and going strong. We use AOP and I would recommend teaching your child instead of using online courses(JMHO). Good Luck.

  6. You go to the school for withdrawal papers stating your intent to home school.  You may have to file a form with the education department.  Believe me, children learn a lot more at home than at a school full of distractions...as long as the parents are patient yet firm.

  7. In GA, Georgia Virtual Academy is  an excellent online charter school that will help assist you in home schooling and provide you with everything your child needs

    (computer, books, art supplies etc)

Yes you need to contact the school she is in currently to take her out.
