I RECENTLY GOT A SHAR-PEI MIXED PUPPY... HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF HIS ROLLS AND SKIN UNTIL I SEE THE VET?

ALSO HIS EARS...HE IS LIGHT PINK IN SPOTS AND HIS FUR VERY COURSE....MY VET IS ON VACATION AND I CAN,T GET HIM IN TO SEE HIM TILL NEXT WEEK....I,VE HEARD ALOT OF RUMORS ABOUT THEIR SKIN CARE.....ANY OWNERS?ANY SUGGESTIONS?

  1. Shar Pei have VERY harsh coats and can cause rashes on people. As for the coat care, shar pei require no special coat care to any other breed. Although their ears need weekly cleaning. Dee Dee Wells one of the most premier breeders in america of Shar Pei says they need no special coat care. You must use a shampoo from the vet to bathe them not any over the counter dog shampoo. I don't have a shar-pei but I do have an English bulldog and they are just as bad.  Make sure if he gets wet, dry in between all his little wrinkles.  If he has skin problems now, you might want to go ahead and see another Vet.  There is also a talc that you can get from your vet that you powder in between wrinkles, its a drying agent and has antibiotic factors.  The main thing is to keep him as dry as possible.

  3. just use a light brush over their coats each night to brush out dirt on their fur

  4. use a baby wipe to clean out the wrinkles around his face
