I really need a huge room makeover and I'm planning on painting my room using like a green type of palette. Any way I want to paint the room the kind of green used on Y! Answers lol..and I want to use a color a few shades darker and white to make it look like there's scribbles. I was wondering..will using a huge water gun work? Here are my questions:

-Would using a water gun work to make a scribble effect?

-What kind of primer should I be using?

-What kind of paint should I be using?

-And what is that shiny topcoat that looks like clear nail polish called? What kind should I use? I want to add that so it can be easier to clean!

Thanks =)

  1. I wouldn't think a water gun would work, because if the paint came out, it would glob on the wall thick and run down. You'd end up with drips. It would take more work, but you could just try scribbling with a paintbrush or something. Otherwise check out a store like Home Depot or something, they have tons of paint tools and you might find something you really like!

    If you're painting over wallpaper, you'll want an oil based primer. If you don't use oil based, the primer and/or paint will activate the glue in the wallpaper and that will cause drips too. I know this one because we did use oil based but my husband put it on too thin in one spot, so when we painted there is now a big drippy chunk on the wall. :( Make sure to apply liberally. If you're not painting over wallpaper, I'm pretty sure you can just use a water based primer. There is also a really neat magnetic primer from Rustoleum, if you use that you can paint over it and put magnets on your walls!

    Use a typical indoor latex paint, and you can get them with a gloss finish for easier cleaning. I don't think you'd need an extra topcoat or anything. Just the gloss finish paint!

    Have fun!
