get spybot search and destroy (www.download.com) free for home use and it will get rid of that nasty spyware. Thanks

save yourself time and get straight to the files that you need to remove... follow the steps on the removal guide http://www.spyware-techie.com/antivirusx... Also shows you a way to boot into safe mode to remove antivirus xp 2008. Good luck.

All these might not work for you. Coz XP 2008 has alot of backup operators, even after removing it and restarting your machine it will come back since it knows your port and ipaddress. Sometimes it works with your explorer or my computer page so when it is remove, it turn out to block operations on that and corrupt files after been deleted. Antivirus XP 2008 has been reported and cyber crime is working at it to terminate it.

To remove it manually will be a difficult task coz, it spreads widely when on your machine.

1. it hides in several patches in your registry,

2. it runs in start up programs

3. it runs in system folder (windows)

4. and has so many paths and file shortcuts.

To me the best thing to do is,

Remove network cable, open network connection, click properties,

unmark file and printer sharing for microsoft network to hide your ip, so when chatting it does not send file to friend automatically to receive.

Upgrading your windows can stand it. System restore cannot stop the operation.

If you want to be fully protected, remove necessary files from machine  and format your machine.
