How would we in the West like it if we were dictated to about whether we could own cats or dogs?

Saudi Arabia's religious police have announced a ban on selling cats and dogs as pets.

Othman al-Othman, head of the Muttawa, said they were enforcing an old religious edict issued by the supreme council of Saudi scholars.

This is the future of the West if the i-slamic Obama succeeds in conning his way into the White House

  1. mostly dogs.

  2. It's not your intention to offend and you write Islam this way? It's so clear that there is no point of this question except to bash Islam, to a degree that you're opposing Obama just because of rumors that says he's a Muslim.

I also agree with ameen.honest, and I'm also Saudi.

  3. if saudi bothers u that much with its restrictions then don't bother going there..

    islam isn't saudi..

in islam almost all pets are permitted but dogs there re some cutions about...that's allin brief!

  4. haha its quite interesting that you bring this up, Saudi arabia is controlled by america and licks americas feet it does nothing islamic it just subjugates women, i am a muslim and i know there is nothing wrong with selling cats and dogs, wejust cant have dogs touch were we are about to pray that is all

  5. hogwash you talk

    absolute hogwash

now go away theres a good fellow

  6. i just heard about this in another Y/A post.

    in reality, media magnify things.

i can assure you i can buy for you any type of dog or cat in saudi anytime you want, and from legal shops, not black market.

as i understood, that this statement came from riyadh as boys made it a fashion to have a dog or cat on street and harrase girls with it (bad flirting). So, it was not about the pet, as it is allowed in islam, but it was about annoying the public.

however, don't take these types of news seriously. what is allowed to sell or not is not very well managed in saudi. it is totally illegal to sell sattelite dishes. however, it is available in every house and every TV electronic stores.

the one thing only that is illegal and well managed is the sales of alcohol. yes, of course there is a good black market of alcohol here.

and the added comment is totally incorrect: saudi has not funded 911. Qaida is an enemy to Saudi Arabia (i mean it is common sense, it does not need CIA intelligence to find out this).

Saudi public image has been so much abused as an 'escape goat' for many other people mistakes.
