with about 10 trips to the bathroom to check everything

    haha

tell ur mum that u have got ur period

    good luck

  2. Lol, yeah thats normal. The blood dries brown, so when I first got my period I thought it was poo! hehehehe.

  3. Yes its normal, let your mom know that you started so she can tell you what you need to know. Dont panick its all very normal. One tip though, if you decide to wear tampons, dont leave them in for more than 8 hours or you can get very sick. Good luck

  4. ha yeah that's blood.  it's totally normal like that, don't worry [:

  5. very normal. its ur period. congrats! lol. ask ur mom wen she had her period...bring it up casually. that way u can bring up ur period casually and it wont be too weird

  6. Congratulations! your now a woman :) Yes this is your period hun. You will now have some symptoms that come with periods too, so don't worry if you feel strange things like, mood swing, backache, tired, sore tummy. Talk to your mum, friend or another female in your family :) Go to the shop/pharmacy and get some sanitary towels or tampons, instructions are written on the back too. Make sure that if you use tampons you read the instructions and change them every 4 hours. Just go upto your mum and tell her you have started your periods and could you have some help :) Take care

  7. ya thats normal. i dont think it could really be anything else. good luck!!

  8. Well done congratulations ur noow a woman!!! thats totally normal just tell her say mum i think i got my period im guessin ul be gettin special tretment tonight!!

  9. Congratulations!

It looks as though you have your first period, don’t worry you are normal – whatever ‘normal’ is.

There isn’t much explanation for brown/red stuff on your underwear other than that it must be your period, there is really no need to panic it is a wonderful thing that is happening to you and if your mum hasn’t already told you all about it then I suggest you start making up for lost time – I recommend you check out sites such as Scarleteen http://www.scarleteen.com which give very accurate body-positive information to pre-teens, teens and adults in a non-patronising way.

Your menstrual flow is not just blood, it is discharge, cervical mucus (this can make it stretchy or slimy), and primarily it is bits of the uterus wall – normally these bits are too small to see unless you use something like a menstrual cup or softcup (you may want to use these instead of pads when you are older, these aren't as messy as pads, also much safer and cleaner than tampons), but sometimes you will find larger bits of this on your pad that seem like blobs of red/black jelly, this is also normal! The brown is normal too, if your menstrual flow mixes with your discharge or other menstrual fluids this can affect the colour of your menstrual flow, also when menstrual flow dries it dries brown.

All girls should be taught about their periods long before they get their periods, if your mum hasn’t told you about this yet then chances are she is as embarrassed about it as you are, when really there is no need to be at all, it is perfectly normal and healthy, but most of us are taught to feel embarrassed or ashamed by it in our society through media messages and outdated ideas about menstruation. Just go up and tell her that you have your period, there is nothing negative about your period and no reason why you should be scared to just tell her, she will probably be happy that you are becoming a woman.

If you really cannot bring yourself to do it then try talking to another female relative, friend of the family or one of your friends to ask them to tell her for you. Another good idea is to leave her a note telling her you have your period, asking her for anything you may need such as pads, clary sage (oil you rub into your tummy to stop cramps), or a period calendar (to note down when you get your periods) and telling her whether you want to discuss it with her or not. If you haven’t already decided on a way to celebrate then add that in the note too, ask her for a sleep over this weekend for you and your friends, a trip to somewhere special or a new outfit you have been wanting, something that will help mark today and make it even more special.
