  1. Some anxiety medications make people sleepy.  They are called benzodiazepines examples are ativan, valium and xanax.  There are other ways of treating anxiety like with antidepressants that do not make people sleepy.

  2. If you're worried about medication, you could always go the therapy route. There are really awesome therapeutic techniques to help manage your anxiety and sleeping regime.

Among these: cognitive behavior therapy, rational emotive therapy, and reality therapy

If you know what triggers your anxiety, you can sort of prepare yourself for calmness.

  3. i found that pills for anxiety made me completely lose my appetite at first and then after about a month, all i did was eat. i didn't feel so much sleepy as i did just tired. it also depends on what medication the doctor recommends (i was on citalopram: it didn't work for me at all).

i would suggest going to a psychiatrist so that maybe they can help you to cope with or change the way you think about some of the things that may be bothering you. you may also need to make a drastic change to your life, if possible but that might help to keep you off of any medications. for myself, i had to quit working and that is helping (as i can concentrate on dealing with my anxieties instead of just being panicked every day about work).

  4. It sounds like anxiety, but I've got it but am not being medicated to take care of it.  I'm going through therapy and hoping to avoid medications, so you might want to see about trying that way.

  5. Often people can manage their anxiety well if it can be initially reduced by medication. The main drugs used for this purpose - the benzodiazepines - are very effective, but also highly addictive. They should not be taken for more than a month at most.

If the problem persists, then it may be necessary to be referred on to a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist.

The most commonly used psychotherapy for generalised anxiety is cognitive therapy.

Carry on skateboarding, low-impact excerise makes the heart race slightly, which enables the heart to be stronger when dealing with aniexty attacks - your heart racing etc.

Exercise will also help to release some of the tension that builds up and can fuel the anxiety.

    Good luck :)
