Question:

I Think My Guinea Pig's Getting A Bit Fat...?

She's fed hay, fresh vegetables, and Excel Guinea Pig food. She doesn't usually eat all her Excel food, but she always seems to be munching away on hay. And she's getting fat. She gets excercise in the garden, and her hutch is big with plenty of toys (and a little friend!), so I'm not sure it's an excercise or bordem problem. She can't be pregnant because she's a year old (so we couldn't have bought her pregnant) and she doesn't have anyone to impregnate her.

Any suggestions?

  1. Same Thing Happens To My 1 And A Half Year Old Rabit. I Think It Could Just Be Like A Thing That Happens. ^_^

Sorry I Couldn't Really Help you.

  2. Check if it fits down the drain, then you will know if its fat or not

  3. she is a well loved girl stop worring

  4. It is usual for guinea pigs to be mistaken for being fat, however if you are concerned make sure that she has as much access to her run/garden as possible. Also make sure her food is pellets (excel usually does pellets but just in case)

are you sure her 'little friend' isn't male?

DOn't be afraid of any puppy fat... however don't feed her alot of lettuce because it can be fattening, and has little nutritional value - Even if they do really like it)

    hope this helps

  5. so what if its fat...

  6. erm, im guessing her little friend is same s*x as her, or, and im dreading the answer here, a rabbit? rabbits should never be kept in same housing as piggies. i have 4 pigs, and 1 is very much larger than the other 3, its nothing to worry about, at least if your piggy gets ill then she will have a bit extra to cover her if she ever goes off her food. pigs always munch on hay, they need to to keep their digestive system in order and to wear down their teeth. enjoy your chunky piggy x

  7. She is just well fed and that is a good thing. A fat guinea pig is a healthy guinea pig. Don't worry. She is fine.

  8. the guineapig i fine

you are obviously looking after it properly and i wouldn't worry about it.perhaps you could feed her a bit less food. it might just be the breed of guinea pig cause i have got 7 and there is a really fat one out of the 7 but its cause thats his breed

    hope i helped =]

  9. It's something to do with the way that pets quite often look like their owners.
