  1. one of the best things you can do for her is build up her confidence.  Model questions for her and then get her to do either the same question, or a very similar one, alone.  Don't let her fail, if you see her make a mistake then intervene and then let her carry on alone again.  Constantly use positive language and at the end of the session point out how much she has done and got right.  This is a very different system to usual teaching but I coach children with special needs and find it works very well.

Once she has understood a concept don't go on to the next one and never go back.  Each lesson do one of each kind you have done before.  Introduce them by saying, 'Now you can do this one.' but give as much help as she needs.  This means that when you want to go back and revise she doesn't look as if she has never met them before, depressing for you and even more so for her.  Remember you can never be too encouraging, she will get plenty of negative feedback from her other teachers so you won't be giving her false expectations.

  2. Does her IEP allow any extra help maybe like a format sheet. She prob has a great memory you just need to find a way to relate them to her if she likes music make up songs about the rules to one type of problem. She can memorize these and apply them as needed. This may take a little extra time on her part.
