  1. Well Shane, it depends on what turns you on. For a spectacular night time fun (where by the way anything goes!) perhaps Acapulco or Can Cun, these are party cities.  For beautifully incredible natural landscapes there is Chiapas, where if you find the right spot you'll feel in Heaven (of course don't expect to find the "modern world" around the corner).  Sports man? Let me recomend Veracruz, they have some of the most amazing outdoor sports (for tourists at least, I guess for locals It should be better).  Culture, well Mexico has some of the richest history,  this part unfortunatelly is best viewed in Mexico City, which IS the largest city in the world with all of it's pros but absolutelly ALL of its cons, so.... unless you love the big city, New York kindda life, i would go for somethig else.  You know there are also cities, yes entire cities populated by Americans, so you might feel at home away from home.  One of such cities is Ajijic, close to Guadalajara (major international airport) it's such a relaxing town close to everything modern, you might like that.  So what ever you are looking for I'm sure you can find it!!  Good luck!! I hope this helped!!!

  2. I've been to 18 of the 31 Mexican states, and I think the states of Oaxaca and Chiapas are the nicest and prettiest.  The beach resorts are nice and pretty but they get pretty hot in July and August.

It's a big country and every state is different.  Check your library, or book store, or on-line book seller for a guide on Mexico and see what interests you.  Then drive down or fly in and rent a car to check out those places yourself.  You can travel around for up to 180 days on a tourist visa.

If you're retirement age it's easier to move there.  But if you're younger than retirement age, don't expect to drive down knock on a door and get a job.  Jobs are hard to get for gringos.  An employer has to write a letter that your job won't be taking a job away from a Mexican worker.
