Question:

I WANT TO PARTITION IT......BUT HOW????

I have only one partition on my lab top (C:), i want to split it into two partitions....

i have two questions;

1. the total size in the local disk is 56 GB, how many GB's should i take from it to the new partition.

2. i dont know a good partitioner and i dont know how to use it....

PLEASE help

  1. if you are using windows xp - u must have to have 10GB for C: local drive.

    then you can split the rest . rest 46 GB you can make more 2 partition Drive D: , Drive E: whatever.

    If u r using windows vista then forget it.

    Use Norton partition magic or, Partition manager 9.0

    Those two easy to use so any one can do it. even you:p

  2. You do not say which OS you are using, but if you have Vista you can use the Disk Management tool to create a new partition.

    Goto Start/Adminstrative Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management

    This will display your disks/ Select the C: drive, and right click.

    One of the options is Shrink Volume. You will then be able to create a new volume in the space created. I have my C: drive set at 30gb, you will need to find out you much space you are using on your existing C: drive. and add 10% for system restore files etc.

  3. what is the operating system you have? (i.e. windows XP, Vista)
