  1. Hey: it used to happen to me too. Im 15 now, and I dont do it anymore. People would always tell me stupid tricks and I would be like SHUT UP. Well, there was one trick that worked for me: dont drink 2 hours before going to bed, and 4 hours after u go to bed, set an alarm. Soon, push the alarm back, to 4.5 hours, 5, 5.5, etc. In like 1 month I stopped! Good luckk =]

  2. try to flip it. try to pee as much in the day so at night no pee! that's what i did!

  3. I had a friend with the same problem. She stopped drinking milk a few hours before bed, because milk makes you sleep harder, then she was able to wake you in the night easier to go to the bathroom.

  4. sounds like you need a specialist, just because doctors havent been able to help yet, doesnt me they wont be able to with more tests, it could be a bladder/kidney infection, or something worse, just keep going to the doctors and pray for answers, I pray you find them

also, i know you feel "weird"...but if these people you hang with are truely your friends tell them, you never know who has access to answers you dont. Dont ever be ashamed of a bodily function, i bet some of your friends can make the smelliest farts ever :P its a part of life, and so is getting over these problems. I'm sure your friends would and will be worried about you, prayign that God helps heal you. If they are real friends, maybe they'll open up and tell you stuff that is not normal with them. None of us are normal....

I just have to put it out there..... you dont have an alcohol problem do you? or other drugs? those sorts of things can really **** up your insides, i know from experiance....

After you've seen a doctor again, maybe ask about how taking cranberry pills may help regulate your urinarry tract? I take two cranberry pills a day, I havent had a UTI in......at least a year. Again ASK YOUR DOCTOR FIRST!!!!!!

  5. put an alarm clock on if you know what time you usually pee, and when it goes off go pee.

might have to do it a few times a night, and might have about 10 min. of sleep loss, but hey, clean sheets!

dont drink or eat anything 3 hours before you go to sleep.

    etc.

just find a GREAT dr. who can help [[[=

  6. Well, I can tell you that the Mountain Dew addiction is certainly contributing to your problem, Dylan. MD contains large amounts of caffeine- roughly the equivalent of 2 to 3 cups of coffee, in each can. Caffeine is a stimulant, and it irritates the nerves which control the bladder- and that can cause your problem just by itself. I am surprised your doctors have never told you about this, and that they have never told you to stop drinking the caffeinated beverages, which is what you need to do if you ever want to get this problem under control and have a normal life, Dylan. Quite apart from this, have you ever had any kind of evaluation for other medical problems which could be causing or contributing to your problem, Dylan? One of the first ones that comes to mind is the possibility that you may have a sleep disorder, such as sleep apnea. Sleep apnea, in which a person stops breathing for several seconds or periods of up to a minute while asleep, and then jerks themselves awake, is associated with enuresis ( the medical name for your condition, Dylan) in adults. Left untreated, this condition can be very DANGEROUS, even life threatening in some cases, and the only way to know if you have it is to have a sleep study done at a reputable lab. Have you ever considered having this done, Dylan? Still another condition which you need to be evaluated for is diabetes. One of the major symptoms of diabetes is increased urination and thirst- as well as increase in appetite without weight gain. Since diabetes is hereditary, there may be a chance that you have the disease, especially if anyone in your family, like your parents or siblings, also have it. I would get yourself tested for this disease, and do it as soon as possible- and this time, don't just go to a urologist. You need to see an internist, and possibly a neurologist, so you can have a sleep study done and be evaluated as well for the possibility of a seizure disorder. Lastly, you need get yourself evaluated for clinical depression and related emotional disorders, because these conditions are ALSO associated with enuresis- in fact, there are some types of bipolar disorder which feature enuresis as a symptom.

Most cases of enuresis are also hereditary- though you have had your problem for much longer than is generally true for most people, and it started a lot earlier. Normally, bedwetting is not diagnosed in children under the age of 4- and you say you started at 3, which makes me a bit suspicious that you are telling the truth about yourself. I myself am a former enuretic- I suffered from the condition for 5 years as a teenager. In my case, it WAS genetic in origin- my father suffered from the same condition as a young man in his 20's. Current research indicates that there are possibly as many as 3 different genes which are believed to cause this problem, and one of those has already been found and identified by researchers at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, near Detroit. This particular gene has been shown to cause enuresis in about a third of all cases. Enuresis is a VERY COMMON PROBLEM - it's estimated that 3 to 5 percent of the adult population in this country suffers from it. That's roughly 50 to 60 MILLION Americans- and in addition, this disorder affects between 10 and 20 MILLION CHILDREN nationwide. Most people who have it as kids generally outgrow it as they mature- but the disorder CAN AND DOES reoccur in adulthood. Take heart, because you are not alone, and you will eventually outgrow this disorder.

I am going to close by suggesting that you need to take some steps to protect your mattress and the couch ( I don't why you sleep on a couch, that doesn't make much sense) you sleep on. There are mattress covers on the market these days which are moisture and rot proof, and which look like an ordinary cover. They are form fitting, which means that they don't rattle when you sit or move around on them, and most are quilted on top for warmth. Some of the top brands are also what is called thermo retentive ( meaning heat retentive) and will keep you warm even when they are wet- an important consideration for comfort, especially in the wintertime. Almost no one I know likes waking up not only wet, but cold too, and these covers help prevent this.  I would consider investing in a couple of these, and using them on your bed- you can alternate nights if you have two of them. Most of these things are machine washable, so they are easy to care for, and they don't lose their moisture proof abilities when you wash them. But above all, Dylan, you need to cut out the caffeine and caffeine containing drinks from your diet, because that, more so than anything else, is really causing your problem right now. Until you do this, and really stick with it, then you will continue to have problems. You also need to make an effort to deal with the emotional issues in your life which are causing you stress- and there must be some, because enuresis is largely triggered and fueled by emotional stress. For reasons which are still not well understood, stress appears to turn the genes which cause this problem on and off like a lightswitch- and the more stress there is, the greater the likelihood of problems. Perhaps a talk with a good therapist or counselor might be in order, depending on what your issues are.

Good luck, I hope this helps you out- and helps you understand your problem a little better.

  8. Use the good nights stuff...

And if your underweight you can't help it but now you try to wake yourself up by an alarm at 3 in the morning then go pody then see if that works.

  9. i still wet the bed and i have gone to my pediatrician...no one in my immediate family has this problem but my moms sister had this problem and her son who is now 20 something and stopped wetting hte bed when he was 19. i used to wet the bed all the time but now i am 14 and i decided that the best possible way for me to not wet the bed is to go to the bathroom before i go to sleep...i always wear goodnites..just in case but i dont put them on until everyone is truly about to go to sleep. i havent been going to the bathroom for 3 months in a row...but when i did my dad bought this thing that you put on your underwear and when it gets a little urine on it, it beeps and makes a really loud alarm noise. the bad thing that you are doing is holding it during the day, cause that sometimes creates bladder infections...what also helped me is i take these cranberry pills, cranberry juice is very good for your bladder...well i hope me and you both get better...i have also gone to a special doctor at this outpatient hospital in my state;california!

  10. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  11. set an alarm on your phone or something for every few hours, and get up & go to the bathroom when it goes off, then set another alarm & get up when that alarm goes off.

or bring some energy drinks so you have an easier time staying awake all night.

  12. You could put your hand in warm water while you sleep.

  13. go to the batroom before u sleep then put ur alarm to 5 or 3 in the morening depends also u could try the doctors thats normal to them

  14. best advice would be not to drink anything a few hours before bed, go to the bathroom right before bed, and if you wake up at all during the night force yourself to get up and go to the bathroom no matter how tired you are. you can try setting an alarm but that might just mess your sleep pattern up. yea i totally get what your saying about not wanting to cover up the problem but want to stop it and i dont know any 16 year old that would willing wear pull ups im so sorry you have to go through this and i hope it ends soon and for sleep overs maybe just wear a pull up i know it sounds terrible but if you wear baggy shorts over it and a big t shirt no one will ever know and you will only have to wear a pull up at the most once a month but try not to stress about it and good luck (:

  15. I suggest going to the doctors. Thats really the only person who can really help you. It might be embarrassing to talk about but at least you'll be able to try and solve this problem.
