  1. fight with your insurance company, often that will help, otherwise you will end up like many of us buying from oversea's sites. I have been using Low-Cost-Rx.com for 2 years now for my meds that the insurance company will not cover. good luck and do at least try and fight with the insurance first

  2. First off, it is ILLEGAL for a psychologist to prescribe medication for you.  It violates the terms of their license, and egregiously oversteps the boundaries and authority conferred upon her as a psychologist.  No health insurance in the States will cover a non-prescribed medication as it is not medically necessary.  That may be one possible problem.

If she's a psychiatrist, then and only then can she prescribe it.

If she is a psychiatrist, then she may well be ignorant of how your carrier and plan works.  The only way to know for sure is to CALL YOUR CARRIER and ask them.  If they say that it is covered so long as you get the prescription, then you may wish to take a look at why your psychiatrist said no.

  3. Ask your doc for samples.  My insurance does cover Lexapro, but my doc usually gives me samples so I don't have to pay. Since it is still one of the more expensive types of prescriptions, the doctors usually get tons of samples.  If not...try Canada.
