  1. If your going for a more traditional look, lots of lightly colored woods, Iobviously bamboo would be the first choice. Very earthy colored, Impressionist art, get some bonsai plants, red and gold are also common colors. Some paper like lanterns.

If your doing modern japan, then you need to go SUPER HIGH TECH. You need to buy technologies that have absolutely no use other than being a fancy new tech, such as electronic dogs, and alarm clocks that speak.

  2. A simple platform bed with no headboard, shoji panels to divide space, a low table with a zen garden on it that has a rake and sand, a bonsai plant or two in small raku pottery and a beautiful silk coverlet on the bed. One or two japanese prints would also be nice. Think simple, comfortable, useful. For lighting, a copper or iron Japanese lantern with rice paper shades. For flooring, go with bamboo with tatami mats.

  3. Here are some suggestions:

    1. Use low furniture with clean lines, such as platform bed and/or floor cushions around a coffee table.

2,  Stick to elements and colors found in nature and things that make you feel serene.

    3.  Less is more - do not use too many prints or knicknacks.

    4.  If the room is large, use dividers to create different areas but leave the room open and airy, such as noren, tansu chests, or shoji screens.

Below  are some links to items and arrangements that might give you some ideas:

  4. a low bed.

    tatami mats too
