  1. Congratulations I wish there were more golfers who wanted to hit forged clubs.  Hogan probably makes the most traditional blades, Titleist offers some great clubs, and Calloway has the X-forged which are a newer version of the X-Tour blades.  Mizuno is known for forged clubs as well, but having hit some of my friends they are extremely heavy feeling.  I play the Calloway X-Tours and love them.

  2. Hey, more power to you man. A lot of people don't have the dedication to play blades, even single digit players.

Why don't you check out some custom brands? They'll play as good or better than any top brands out there, and are something unique and special.

If you have a large budget, look into Miura Irons. They are among the best in the world, although pricey at about $1200 a set. An American company named Scratch Golf makes clubs of similar quality as well, and will custom grind the clubs to suit your type of swing. They're really something special.

I use clubs from a company named KZ Golf. They have a set called ZO Forged that are a zero offset forged blade. Those clubs are REAL pro quality, and are not the kind of thing you'll find at you Titleist of Mizuno dealer. If you're not THAT hardcore, they have a more traditional set with a slight offset like what you'll find on the forged sets of major brands.

I'm not trying to persuade you against Mizuno or Titleist, just give you some more options. Most players who use blades have a real passion for the game, and may enjoy a truly unique set.

Also, I'd also like to suggest posing your questions on the forums at golfwrx.com. There are a lot of blade players on there who can give you the low down on just about everything out there.

    Good luck and have fun.

  3. Blades are a good choice.  However, with a higher handicap, I would go with a combo set, where the shorter clubs are blades, and the longer irons are cavitied.  I would say Titleist 735's or Taylormade TP combo.  Just depends on how much you wanna spend.

  4. Two of the best quality sets of blades you can purchase are the new Titleist blades or Mizuno blades.

  5. Do some research on some different sites.  http://www.thegolfdog.com or www.golfwrx.com  They should show you a bunch of reviews of blade type irons.  Just type in blade in the iron section of the sites.  I hope this helps a little

  6. I am in the same situation as you are.  I am a 10 handicap and at this moment i am looking for some nike blades i have hit a couple different sets of blades but my preference is nike and titelist.

  7. Nike Blades are difficult to hit.  The company said they're made for 0-5 handicap players.  You may want to look at other options.  Nike's CCi forged irons would suit you much better.  I play the pro combos and unless I flub a shot, they all feel great.  Can't beat a forged club.  Also Mizuno makes excellent clubs.  All their irons are forged except the MX-19.  Try the MP-57.  It's not a blade, it's a full cavity forged iron.  They have the MP-67 which is a cut muscle blade, but they are similar to the Nike Blades.  There is also the MP-32 and MP-60.  TaylorMade makes a forged muscle back iron, which may have a little more clubface than the Nike or MP-67.  Bridgestone has the J36 and says it targets the professional player and low handicap amateur.  Callaway has the X-forged irons.  Srixon has the Pro 100 irons that are forged muscle back irons.  Titleist has the ZM forged blades.  I used to hit a blade before, but the clubhead was slightly larger than your typical blade iron.

  8. When it comes to Blades two companies are head and shoulders above the rest , Titleist and Mizuno , just go to your local range and hit both and remember especially with blades as soon as you find the brand you want get properly fitted , blades leave little margin for error when it comes to forgiveness so getting properly fitted will be to your benefit .

    Good Luck .

And by the way Titleist  is coming out with a new set of Forged Blades that they are having in a combo set meaning the long irons are going to be Cavity back and slowly progress into true blades at the shorter irons and the other set will be straight Blades .check them out at http://www.titleist.com/golfclubs/irons/...

They are coming out the end of March I cannot wait I am trading my 690MB's in and going with the Combo set , check it out.

  9. Good on you for wanting an honest set of irons.  They'll tell you

a lot about how you are hitting the ball on any given day and will

demand that you know the actual yardages that you truly carry the ball in flight.  The selection is much smaller than it was in the past but you can't go wrong with mizuno, titleist or hogan's.  Don't let the magazines controlled by their advertisers sway you,

playing blades remains a true joy in the game of golf.

  10. if you are a9 handicap you shouldn't need suggestions you should give them a 9 handicap should have all the kwowledge in the world about golf clubs maybe your a 19 handicapperand just want to be a 9 stay away from blades unless you can shape and define your shots a 9 handicap should have this knowledge (sorry for the truth)

  11. if i was you i would not get blades. a full set anyway. im a scratch player and i dont feel like im consistent enough to play blades. however i do have blades in my 8 9 and PW. so try a combo set of irons. nike makes a good set
