Question:

I Was Assaulted, What Will I Do?

I was at the Chip Shop with my mother last night and I ended up getting assaulted by a drunk man. He threw me to the ground and kicked and punched me and I couldn't fight back. I did manage to get up from the ground and tear at his shirt and face but his girlfriend (?) then pushed my mother onto the floor and blamed her for assualting her. My Mother wasn't hurt but I have a split lip and my ribs are so painful I can't breathe properly. Should I report this to the police and press charges? I'm afraid of bringing shame on my family.

  1. report to police

  2. Yes report it, how would it be bring shame on your family. It will indeed be getting justice for a crime, which was commited on you!!!

  3. any witnesses? pay someone to speak as a witness. even if they saw everything that happened you'll have to pay them to speak up. trust me, when it comes to law, no one likes getting involved.

  4. beat his butt... take a knife and just start choppin him up....he hurt your mom , its time to fight for your own family. revenge is a dish best served cold

  5. was not your fault report it no shame in that

  6. Definitley report to the police your family will not me mad if you tell the cops that someone tried to murder you. If your ribs hurt go to the hospital there is a possibility that one of them is broken.

  7. Not sure why you think someone assaulting you would bring shame on your family and why you didn't report it immediately are beyond me.

You could report it now, but you should have reported it at the time as it is less likely to be taken seriously now.   They may just take a report and issue a control number.  Unless the Chip Shop has a video that recorded the incident and the employees can witness what they saw, you are not giving the police much to go on or to investigate.

If you did not seek immediate medical treatment, combined with not reporting the matter to the police, you are not likely to prevail in a civil recourse matter.

  8. just go give a good old country *** kickin
