  1. By admitting it was your relative, you admitted some sort of involvement. Doesn't sound like you guys thought this out too well. Get a lawyer before talking with the police anymore, because if anything, you need to ask for immunity before you say anything else.

  2. You did what?

  3. Unfortunately, you may not be in the right here.  When in doubt, you should have called a manager over.  $1500 is a lot of money to lose.  And the loss was from your register and as it turns out is someone somehow related to you.  There is not much you can do most likely.

  4. a really good start would be to pay back the 1425 that you and your distant relative owe them.

other then that, don't plan on being a cashier again anytime in your life.

  5. Sounds like you might be going to jail, I wouldn't worry about the job.

  6. Your facts are sketchy, but I take it the person that passed them is a relative of yours.

    FIFTEEN? A RELATIVE?

I'd seek a restraining order keeping you out of the store for life, and if I were an investigator, I'd be looking at you as a co-conspirator.

No, I don't think you have a case.  I think you have a problem.

  7. Well....considering Wal-Mart has a policy that you are not to check out relatives, they have you on that.  Distant or not, you admit she is relation to you, you should have had someone else ring her up.

Depending on the state, they might even HAVE to have any good reason for firing you, but failure to prevent the loss of $1500 to the company would be a valid reason...especially since you were related to the person.

There are more ways to test a bill other than the marker.  Watermarks are different and security strips are in different locations on the different bills.  Payment of $1500 cash is a red-flag.
