I accidently clicked on a link that took me to a webpage and automatically started downloading something onto my computer. On the page it said something like scanning for spyware or something, like it needed to scan.....I dont know if I pressed cancel in time....so how do i figure out if i got a virus? Im worried someone hacked into my computer and is getting my info. Whats the likelihood of that? Im on a MAC desktop....I dont know much more about my computer. Please help, Im paranoid!

  1. most of my knowledge is on Debian and SLAX based Linux and Windows but i'm pretty sure that macs are fairly good with security, unlike windows. the online scanning virus things are usually made for windows users and shouldnt really affect you, if you have virus scanning or spyware scanning software, try a scan and see what you get, but the chances that some hacked into your computer is pretty slim being mac from what i know. for some1 to get your information they would of had to install a trogen or something.

if your worried about keylogging (some1 recording your key strokes) install "KeyScambler" its an add-on for firefox and that encrypts your keystrokes from the kernel so this makes it very hard to get your passwords, credit card details etc.

just had a look on google n it looks like its really rare to get a trogen on a mac desktop so i wouldnt be worried about it.

    hope this helped

  2. First run your anti virus and anti spy, and see what it tells you!  If your shields were on then you shouldn't freak out!
