I had 1/8 of a tank of gas, and I put about a gallon of diesel (thought it was gas) in my car. It tries to start, but it won't. The gas hand was still below a quarter, and I bought a bunch of cans of V-Power Shell gasoline and filled it all the way up. It still won't start. What should I do? Tell me it is fixable.

  1. You probably fouled the spark plugs real bad. Leaving the diesel fuel in the tank shouldn't hurt the engine but it'll smoke and run poorly for a while if you can get it started.  I'd put as much gasoline in the tank as I could  to try to dilute the diesel fuel.  Either remove and clean the spark plugs that you have, or buy a fresh set and install.  Then try to start it.

  2. Bleed the system as that 1 gal must of caused issues>You can Try some carb cleaner to get it running then run it for a while till the gas get in the system>

  3. My friend did this, but I can't for the life of me remember how she fixed it! I think she had to get the tank flushed...

  4. Yes its fixable. You will need to drain the tank. You can get a siphon kit and a part store. One you drain it put in a gallon of gas, then discount the fuel line from the motor put in a gas can and turn the car over. This should get any fuel in the line out. Be very careful when doing this as you do not want to start the car on fire.
