I got a oldsmobile cutlass(gas engine)... And my car can't stay running no more after I accidentally put diesel in it! Did I break my engine? What did I all break? Thank you.

  1. Drain the fuel, change the gas filter, get some starting fluid, put new fresh gas in the tank, it will probably start and run, you may need to clean your plugs, I don't think you hurt anything badly.

  2. no just drain the fuel tank and put on a new fuel filter it will be ok

  3. Thats why im proud to live in a state were you are not allowed to pump your own gas! If a traind person pumps your gas and that happens you have a case for a law suit! if you do it your ******! you will have to pay for all the repairs your self!

  4. How?

A diesel fuel filler nozzle is too big to put in a gasoline engined car filler!

Or so I have been led to believe.

  5. just drain the fuel completely and fill it up with correct one and you good to go. at first it will be hard to start as the engine tries to clean the left over but after it start let it on for 5 minutes just to make sure all the fuel system are fill with the gasoline. you dont have to change the fuel filter as soon as possible, it might be little bit more dirty but still to soon to change, wait until another 5000 miles then change it.
