Question:

I accidentally renamed photos on my SD card and now i can't view them on my camera!!!?

I was renaming some photos on my memory card when i meant to rename the same, but saved, photos on my computer. Now, i cannot see them from my camera!!! I don't know what to do but i would like to see them on my camera badly. PLEASE if u hav any idea of wat i should do pleeez tell me im soooo desperate to fix this!

I've tried right clicking and then RENAME and then clicked backspace and click out but it goes back to the way it was!!!!

  1. Most cameras take pictures in jpg files, so for your camera to read them you can rename the pictures to whatever you want, but just add ".jpg" to the end of the name.


  2. Unless you know the ORIGINAL file name, your camera will not recognize your photos on your memory card.

    If you do not know this your odds aren't looking good... This does not necessarily mean that the photos aren't there on the memory card - your computer should read them, just not your camera. (You will probably only be able to view your renamed batch of photos on the computer, and not on your camera.)

    Remember this before you rename the files straight off your memory card next time. (I would recommend copying the photos to your computer and then renaming them.)

  3. Once you files leave the camera, they are changed ... just enough to keep your camera from viewing them.  

    Your camera is not a photo viewer really.  The LCD is there to help you in your composition and for checking your exposure so you know if you have to reshoot the image.  

    If you are sure all your photos are on your computer, format the card and start out fresh, new file folders and a new image index file.
