I told the Manager of the hotel and he has now said that I will have to pay for this. Is this right. He went absolutely berserk. Does anyone know where I stand. It was an accident. I did not do it deliberately.

  1. i'm envisioning a pakistani man flailing his arms in the air yelling at you.  funny sight.

good luck with this one, he'll probably charge it to your credit card or take you to small claims court.  but you shouldn't have to pay for it.  that is normal wear and tear on a hotel room.

personally, i wouldn't have told him in the first place.

  2. I don't think you have anything to worry about.  As long as you weren't abusing it and other things in the hotel room, you should be fine.  The handle probably broke from normal wear and tear.  If you did use a credit card when paying for the room, he may try to charge the repair on it.  If he does, you may have to take him to court to get your money back.  Good luck!

  3. The manager is being an idiot. You shouldn't have to pay for this. I would refuse to pay for it, dispute any charges, let him try and take me to court. It is not your job to provide normal maintenance to their hotel.

I once leaned on a towel bar and it ripped out of the drywall. The bar was tacked on to the wall with common screws to the drywall. As far as the hotel was concerned they would just send maintenance up to replace it. It didn't cost anything.

  4. no you don't. if you were just using the handle in the manner it was intended then the problem is theirs.

tempting-lol! i was getting the same vibe.

  5. If it's a national chain - call the headquarters and complain.
