im renting and my landlord says he will use my last months rent deposit for any damages done to the unit for the past 2 years. what should i do?

  1. if you had NOT told the landlord, you could have had it fixed yourself at a much cheaper rate than two month's rent.  You didn't say if the damage had caused buckling or was it just surface damage.  I would have tried to fix it myself first without saying anything.


  2. Maybe you can get an estimate from someone on how much it would cost to repair.  If that estimate is less than your deposit then ask if you could repair on your own.
