I accidently downshifted (5th-3rd), but don't know if i over-revved, will the engine light come on if i did?

i heard the tires chirp then i quickly push the clutch back in. (scion tc)

It is okay to skip gears.

Shifting down by skipping a gear makes the car slow down very fast so sometimes it does make the tires chirp because the car slows down quickly for the lower gear.

The engine light will not come on because of that.

if the car don't knock or overheat you good, i did it before  and no the light    wont come on
