  1. there are 3 thing a pool needs to not turn green

1)filtered water(filter is clean, and working)

    2)good chlorine

3)good circulation(run the pool during daylight hours)

if one of these things are missing your pool will turn green within a week.

the chlorine should not be too low or high because if it is too low the pool will turn green, and if it is too high it can become unsafe to swim in it. You should go get a test kit, or test strips from a pool store like:

    Leslie pool supply

    or

    Warehouse pool supply

or any local pool supply store

it will show you the safe chlorine levels

    GOOD LUCK!

  2. Chlorine helps to prevent algae growth and kills harmful bacteria and pathogens. It is a sanitizer that keeps the water clean and safe. These harmful bacteria and algae can infest the pool as soon as the chlorine level becomes low (usually less than 1ppm but could be higher depending on other chemical factors). To help slow chlorine loss cyanuic acid is added to the pool (also known as stabalizer). During the day a pool can lose all of its chlorine in a couple hours with no stabalizer.
