I knew he would be a dirty fish but that dirty, how often do I need to change the tank water or is this a bacterial plume?

  1. your tank is cycling. it should clear up in a couple of weeks and in the mean time, do small water changes every other day of about ten percent, until the tank is cycled in which you can resume doing weekly water changes of 25 percent

  2. You need to tell us more.

  3. if it is a new tank it may be a bacteria

    do you have a filter?

  4. do daily water change of 10 percent.

  5. Once your tank has cycled, it should clear up. The bacteria cycle begins as soon as you put the first fish in the water. It usually takes several weeks to fully establish itself.

Using activated carbon filters will clear up the water as well.

They have carbon pads that you can cut to fit and put in your power filter also. Carbon will get rid of small particles in the water.

  6. The fish isn't making the water cloudy because it is dirty.  Goldfish do produce a lot of waste but the cloudiness is bacteria in your tank.  A goldfish needs a minimum of a 20 gallon tank and should not be kept with other kinds of fish.  They are coldwater fish and really aren't compatible with other fish.

  7. Hi Casey, the link below should help you, far too much to list out here in one message!

  8. Well what other fish do you have in there? Just goldfish? How big is your tank. Do you have a filter? It could be clogged and you might need to change the bag...That happened to me when i would add goldfish, but it would be immediatly after and clear up in about a half hour.. Just give it a couple of days to see if it clears up. If not, then it could be an issue with your filter/fish.

  9. sometimes if you add too many fish or a bigger fish your filter can get overwhelmed, but mine usually clears up in an hour or two
