  1. If you are really looking for a good setup then would suggest you check out some of these anti-virus and anti-spyware software programs along with a couple other recommended programs:

    -McAfee 12 in 1 Security Center (anti-virus)

    -Spyware Doctor with AV (anti-spyware)

    -PC Tools Firewall Plus(free) (firewall)

    -ThreatFire(free) (added virus protection)

-CCleaner(keep computer running pretty good, cleans up history and whatnot)

    -Firefox(safe browser)

All of the above programs I use and have been using for a very long time now, all with fantastic results.

  2. my answer would be get rid of avg and sont down load windows defender it takes for ever and it never finds anything. i would download spybot search and destroy. its free and very user friendly. you can download at http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Spy...  it has found stuff that my norton antivirus 2008 couldnt find

  3. If you have more than 1 anti-virus software installed on your computer it makes your computer LESS secure, not more secure.  They interfere with each other.  Pick one and stick with it.  AVG is ok, Avast is better.  But you shouldn't have any problems with AVG.  But don't install more than one.  You don't need windows defender.

  4. no just get avast it is the best here is the link to download it

    http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Editi...

  5. AVG is an anti-virus and a pretty mediocre one at that.  Defender is anti-spyware. Two different programs with two different purposes.

That combination should not slow your computerv down.

But just be aware, it is mostly n00bs, the naive, the computer illiterate, and children that use AVG Free. People of their ilk love AVG because they say it is easy to use and almost never bothers them with any pop-ups or warnings. Of course AVG Free never bothers them, it hardly ever finds any virus to warn them about!

  6. Never run  2 Antivirus programs..

Ok,, I should say.. Never install any Antivirus software, without first removing the old software..

Most documentation on new instatll will advise you on this.

Avg,, free or not , is a resourse hog, and poor at best ..

    Windows Defender?

Malicious code is created to attack the mainstream countermeasures...

    The most popular programs..

Freebie shareware is an easy target...

Spend a few dollars on some security...........

It's not much ,,A few dollars will give you  reliable security, that will save you hours of problem solving or possibly having to format

Esset "Nod 32" is by far the best choice....

    Good Luck
