  1. There is no way to get too much salt out of something - you will have to start over.

  2. You can make another batch without salt and mix them together. I never add extra salt when I'm cooking. I wait until the dish is finished, then I taste it. If it needs extra salt, I will add it then. I cook with garlic salt instead of regular salt, because you can get away with less and the taste is better. You can always salt your food at the table. Better to have too little than too much. You can always add more, but you can't take it away.

  3. Do NOT add sugar. You add sugar to neutralize heat from chili pepper.

The lime effects the same taste buds as salt, so lime would help lessen the salty taste.

    You have 2 solutions

    1. Remove part of the gravy and discard it. Add more water. It will just dilute the gravy. Now add spices other than the salt so it is not bland.

    2. Scoop out potatoes from curry. They have already soaked a lot of salt. You can not remove the salt already soaked-in by the potatoes. Throw out the potatoes.

Peel and add new tomatoes to the curry and cook it to a finish till potatoes are cooked to tender

  4. Follow the directions and measure out the salt to the exact point.  Be extra careful and you'll be a great cook!

  5. ok, what are you cooking?

    EDIT:

doesnt matter if it has potatoes in it already, the potato you put in is only there to absorb the saltiness. Peel and cut a large potato in three pieces. Simmer the curry and place the potatoes in the curry. After 15-20 mins remove and throw them out.

this works with any liquidy dish, remember to replace the liquid you lost doing this though, if you are continuing to cook.

Lemon also counter acts salt, squeeze fresh lemon juice in bit by bit, dont over do it though!! keep testing it.

    Best of luck

  6. Double your recipe if you can.  The potato does work.  I used to be heavy handed on the salt, but I found that it's best to use a shaker, not pour out of the box, and if you must pour out of the box, pour into your hand first so you can see what you are putting in there, most times I realize that what I have in my hand is way too much.  People can always add more salt after it's done if necessary.  They can't take it out.

  7. just drink lots of water and use less salt. you will be fine.

  8. Depends on what you are cooking.

But try adding a potato, and just before you wanna serve, take out the potato, that should help.

and yes, adding sugar is bad bad idea.

If you already have potato in it, then you have no choice but to add some water and let it vaporize... this should help too...

    Good luck!

  9. when you are cooking and you added too much salt, try adding potatoes, they absorb the extra salt, always

  10. Is it something you can serve over rice?

  11. Sometimes a little lemon juice or vinegar will counter the salt.

  12. make a 2nd batch w/ NO salt, then combine the 2 batches

  13. Depends on what it is but  you can add a potato and continue cooking untill the potato is done and that will absorb  allot of the salt.

  14. Wash,Peel and place a raw potato in the food it will absorb that salt, when done cooking remove potato.
