Question:

I always crave sugar when I'm in a bad mood. Please help?

So I'm one of those people that get over emotional and depressed if they haven't had eaten anything for 3 hours. And when I get into one of these bad moods, I always reach for a chocolate bar to get my mood up. I think it's because if I haven't eaten for too long I don't have any 'sugar' in my blood and have no energy. I don't want to snack so much junk but it's the food that gets my mood up the fastest. Could I somehow avoid reaching for candy bars everytime I feel I have no energy? Any suggestions?

  1. dont leave so long a  gap between meals as  it isnt good for you, maybe you are diabetic go and have a blood tests and eat an apple instead of a cake for natural sugary sensation.

  3. u dont need sugar to have energy, you could try eating a handful of brazil nuts or cashews but make sure they aren't salted as that will make u feel bloated.



  4. i have a similiar issue - i think it's just a sweet tooth, but sometimes if i don't feel right and i have somethin sweet, it fixes it. i'd recomend that u try a spoon of honey instead of chocolate. it's sweet so it kills off dat craving, and it's good for u :)

  5. you should eat more often and when you feel the need for something sweet try fruit or honey. They are healthier for you. Also, if you feel you don't have enough energy try eating things like protein bars, vegetables, and peanut butter.

  6. Like the first poster said, it might help to plan on eating more times a day to begin with.  Eat six small meals a day; this will allow you to eat each time you start to feel your sugar dropping and keep you at a more regulated blood sugar level. Try eating sweet fruits instead of a chocolate bar each time. Apples, watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, mango. There are lots of great tasting natural sugars. And if you want something chocolately, try a chocolate protein bar (personally, I like Cliff bars or Luna bars). Protein gives you sustained energy and should help keep you feeling as if you have more of a steady blood sugar also.

  7. if i were you id put all your chocolate in a special draw that way you will have to think about getting that chocolate bar before actually eating it,if that doesent work get rid of all the sweets you have. finally try Eaton six short meals a day in stead of 3 big ones, like having a pancake when you get up, hour in a half later eat a banana half a sandwich and like a bag of chips, two hours later eat a bowl of fruit, then in an hour later eat half of your normal dinner then 2 hours later eat a regular dinner. i would only go to this much xtremes becuase eating to much choclate is a serious health issuie and only go on this eating plan for a week or two. talk to a doctor for some other tips
