I always feel worried about something....

I am naturally one of those people that worry but just recently it has got worse. I always have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that makes me feel sick and i can't get rid of it. The thing is, there is nothing i need to worry about (except the usual exams, money etc). I am actually the happiest i have been with my life since i can remember which is what makes this worrying feeling even worse.

I try telling myself that there is nothing wrong or to worry about but it doesnt make any difference.

Just wondering if anyone else has even been like this and how they overcame it. or if anyone has any general advice :) thanks

ps. I am an 18 year old girl if that makes any difference!

  1. It does sound like Generalized Anxiety Disorder.  Since I am not qualified to make an official diagnosis (and most who answer here aren't either), I would suggest you see a doctor or psychologist to check it out.  Try this link:

This is a Q & A about someone who worries constantly.

When you're done, you can check out the site for more info on your problem.  Google for online quizzes for worry/anxiety.  These might help you understand yourself better and give you a starting point for fixing things.  Good luck.

  2. You'll be happy to know that psychiatry has a label for every imaginable type of imperfect behaviour/thought/emotional state.

For the symptoms you describe, it is GAD - Generalised Anxiety Disorder.

It is unfortunate that psychiatry can't effectively treat most disorders, its claims to the contrary notwithstanding. But who needs effective treatment when it has labels?

  3. Yes I feel worried a lot. Sometimes more than usual. But it helps me a lot if I talk about my worries to someone I can trust.

  4. yea i used 2 b kinda like tha..even if i had nothin 2 worry bout..i would find something..to b honest there is no magical answer..u just need 2 learn 2 rationalize things

  5. Im exactly the same as you. I have gotten through it and you wil too! i think its best if you speak to a counsellor about how ur feeling and they can help you with these feelings.
