i always get like really quick and painful stabbing pains in the left side of my rib cage. I usually get them when I'm running around or do something pretty athletic. I'm not over weight, I'm not unhealthy and i do play a lot of sports so this is really an inconvenience! Its so annoying, and it hurts! does anyone know what this is?!

  1. They could be spasms.  Drink lots of water and do wind down exercises.  Like stretches.

  2. I get those too. U should probably drink PLENTY of water. If they feel like they tighten up sometimes when you breathe  or if you feel like you have to hold it to keep from hurting then thats what it is lack of water or just not enough.

  3. Either you're having really bad side cramping because of the running or it could be something more serious. I'm a runner too and I started getting those hurting pains in my side by my ribcage too. it was a little lower on the side, but... it turned out to be ovarian cysts. The pain on the side is really common for cysts, especally if you're doing something active. Either or, I'd get checked out by a doctor.

cysts are basically fluid filled sacs that can appear on various parts of your body. They're normally harmless but if they get big enough and bothersome, either treatment or surgery is needed. personally, im on a treatment for them (birth control) it helps to stabalize your hormones, making you less likey to produce them. Sounds scary but its really not.
