It takes me forever to fall asleep. When I get to bed I can't stop thinking, why is this? I think this is why it takes me hours sometimes to fall asleep. Any tips?

  1. Spend a little time about an hour before bed doing a routine, of clearing your mind, a little physical exercise (stretches are wonderful), a soothing warm bath, and saying prayers (or your chosen equivalent). If you can help it, avoid using your bedroom for anything other than sleeping, relaxing, sickness, or intimacy. Don't listen to loud music that gets your adrenaline going, or get involved into any large projects during this routine. If you're angry at anyone, attempt to resolve it before the sun sets that day, so you can sleep with a clear conscience. If you must sleep with noise, get a fish tank or other "white noise" producing sound, as the TV will keep you awake if it isn't dreadfully boring. And finally, don't eat any large meals, smoke, or have caffeine a couple hours before bed, as they'll give you huge energy boosts.

  2. I'm in the same boat but I have found doing some household chores or working on work projects or school or reading a really boring book help. It helps also to turn off the tv and listen to some classical music.

  3. I have the same problem. I'll lay down and try to sleep and i either take forever to fall asleep or i sleep and then wake up again for no reason.

I've looked up this as well and found a site with ideas that might help.
