I always have my laptop plugged into mains. When I move to another room,battery lasts 5mins. Why?

I have had the same battery for 5years. I have asked NEC about purchasing a new one and they never respond.

your battery is not working anymore.. and 5 years is a long time.. a new born baby also starts going school before 5, laptop batteries wont live that much

Hello From the Tech:

If you have had the battery for 5 years it is beat.  The life span is about 18 to 24 months tops.  You could go to a good computer shop and locate one for most lap tops .  They should be able to order one for your model if they dont have one in stock.

Dont buy the **** ones from Ebay....most of em are paper weights.

are you using Windows XP operating system?  you need to check your power settings in control panel. Go to > Control Panel > Power Options properties and then check your settings if it correct.

your battery is worn out or your charger is not charging any more.

it could be that u had it plugged in to the power all the time so it was constant power in 2 the battery.
