I always have to be so careful with the kinds of things I say to my friends, is that a good friend?

Some of my friends are married, and some of them are not married. The ones who are married always seem to understand if I ever have something to go to with my husband or in laws, but the ones who are single, always get offended if I "choose" my husband over them. Last month, there was a party for one of our friends but I wasn't able to go because my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary that day but they were so offended that I wasn't coming. Shouldn't they understand that family comes first? This isn't the first time something like this happened. It's an ongoing thing.

  1. If your friends are offended that you chose to celebrate your anniversary instead of going to their party, you seriously need some new friends!!!! Lives change and with the introduction of spouses, there's a whole other world that your single friends need to get used to. Fortunately, most of my friends are married and I adore their spouses so it's not an issue. I have some flaky friends who will say they're attending something and then back out at the last minute but that doesn't mean I'll stop talking to them or inviting them out. I think you need to find out if your friends are jealous of your relationship or maybe they don't like your spouse and aren't telling you. I can't say what they're thinking, but if that were me, I would tell them off and move on. It seems to me that they're more acquaintances than friends.

  2. they should understand i mean its your anniversery maybe they'll understand once they get married if they dont then just talk to them!
