Pakistan’s interim coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 stepped down, shared that he prefers national duties and is looking to serve the country at every level.
The 56-year-old, who has recently been named as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, asserted that he is ready to coach the Men in Green by using all his experience.
“I accepted the new job not as a challenge, but as national duty and with a view that I can serve Pakistan in any role the PCB chairman gives me. I am not afraid of taking risky decisions and I know responsibility is on my shoulders since I have picked the team and now I am coaching it.” He told Dawn News.
Recently, the legendary pacer, Waqar Younis stepped down from his responsibilities as Pakistan’s head coach, which compelled the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to announce a committee to seek a coach for the national side.
PCB included Pakistan’s former manager, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ramiz-Hasan-Raja-c83872 in the committee.
After receiving several applications from national and foreign candidates, the committee shortlisted 5 applicants in their last meeting, which took place on September, 26, 2011, and forwarded the list to the governing body of cricket in Pakistan for further consideration.
However, PCB failed to take a decision in this regard due to the short span of time before the Sri Lanka series, and handed the reins to the veteran of 48 Tests, and 75 ODIs, on a temporary basis.
Coming back to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-c77587’s statement, he eagerly cited that he is always available for the betterment of cricket in the country.
“In fact, I would have accepted the job of coach even if it was only for a couple of days because I am ready to work at any post to serve cricket and that is why I accepted the new job when the chairman offered it to me,” Mohsin added.
The series against Sri Lanka is going to be played in UAE, and will include 3 Tests, 5 ODIs and a maiden Twenty20 fixture.
