  1. ugh.. why does everytime someone have a slice problem..there are always countless replies of "you are coming over the top".. or "you have an outside to inside swingpath".

That is garbage.  Swing path has NO relevance to a slice.  I can swing with an over-the-top swing all day long.. but as long as I have a SQUARE CLUBFACE at impact, it will result in a STRAIGHT ball.  It will just only be a pull, since you changed your aim, by changing your swing path.  I can still slice the ball, with a proper swing path.  If I put the most beautiful downswing on the ball.. inside-to-square-to-inside.. but still have an OPEN clubface.. then its going to result what looks to be a beautiful drive...  Starts off long and straight.. and then suddenly begins to SLICE its way off to the right (or left, if you're a lefty)

The cause of a slice is an OPEN clubface, at IMPACT, in relation to the swing path.   NOTHING MORE

  2. 1 dont sway your body

2 dont come out of the shot (meaning look up as soon as you hit it)

    3 keep on plane

    4 turn on your spine

    5 followthrough

  3. Sometimes I go through periods when I slice the ball. To correct this I usually:

    1. Check my feet and shoulders are not pointing to the left.

    2. Check my club head is not pointing to the right.

    3. Change my grip so that my right hand comes over my left hand more.

    4. Swing the club in more of a wide arc as if I want to draw the ball

  4. The only way to correct swing flaws ( a slice is caused by a swing flaw) is lessons and practicing what the pro gives you as drills.   The guys who play on TV on Sundays have a swing coach.......why not you?

  5. Don't swing so hard and don't rely so much or your arms,  turn your shoulders and follow through. Driving range is always the medicine.

  6. slicing the ball is known as coming over the top, youre swingpath is going out and coming back in to the ball which is putting side spin on the ball, which causes the slice.

try these tips at the range

1.tee up a ball, put another tee about 12-14 inchs behind the ball but about 1-2 inchs inside the swing path,[closer to youre body] on youre backswing hit the tee thats behind the ball with youre club, this will put youre club on a inside path and get swinging correctly.

    2. at address try moving youre right leg back about 2 inchs, this will also clear youre right side so that you can get inside the swing path.

    3. take a glove and put it in between youre left arm and chest [armpit] on youre backswing do not let the glove fall, this will teach youre arms to stay close to the body

remember these are drills to use on the range, and they will take time to ingrain in youre swing, i hope this helps.

  7. Two things can cause a slice:

    1 ) Outside --> In Swing Plane

    2) Open Club Face

Do what people told you on here.  The glove one will work great, so will the 12-14 inch behind/1-2 inch inside.

  8. HOOK IT.

  9. one big reason amateurs slice the ball is that they're swing plane comes from the outside, therefore making their hands  jet out ahead of the ball resulting in an opened club face and unnecessary spin. to fix this keep your head over the ball at all times and practice swinging the club really slowly, noting whether or not your hands come out ahead of the ball...if they do keep swinging slowly, trying to keep them directly in line with the ball and your head at impact....this will surely fix your slice
