I shower once or twice daily, always wear clean clothes, and use deodorant, yet I still get remarks that I need to keep up my hygiene. What can I do differently to always smell good?

  1. Do you wash your hair each time you shower?  A lot of people don't and you can smell funky because of that.

Also, I don't know if you eat a lot of food with strong spices or garlic, that could be it.

I just noticed you didn't say anything about your teeth.  Brush at least twice a day, use mouth wash and floss everyday.  Hope this helps.

  2. Keep a deodorant in your purse or in your pocket and put it on every hour or so. Make sure you keep your hai and teeth clean too.

    Good luck!

  3. As you've gotten older, you might have noticed a few changes going on with your body. But one of these only your nose knows — it's your personal scent. You smell differently these days than you did a few years ago, and sometimes you can be downright rank, right? What's to blame for all this smelliness? It's your old pal, sweat.

Teenage sweat is different from kid sweat. For starters, there's much more of it. During puberty, hormones that are busy changing you into an adult also up the output of your sweat glands. You sweat more all over, but the places affected most are under your arms and around your genitals.

Teen sweat is also made up of different stuff than kid sweat. Humans have two types of sweat glands — eccrine glands, which release a salty liquid good for cooling the body, and apocrine glands, which put out a milky substance that regulates sweating. Eccrine glands are all over your body, but apocrine glands are found mostly — you guessed it — under your arms and around your genitals. When you go through puberty, your apocrine glands become a lot more active than they used to be.

How do these glands affect your smell? The answer literally lies within your pores. Bacteria that hide out in your skin love apocrine sweat. When they combine with it, they grow and multiply, and they produce lots of waste products. It's that waste that changes your scent to more like "eau de garbage-dump" than "eau de pretty-flower."

Good news, though — there are measures you can take to stop the funk before it starts. If your smell or sweat bothers you, consider trying these tips to keep you smelling your best:

Wash daily with an antibacterial soap, like Dial or Lever 2000. These soaps reduce the number of bacteria that live on your skin, so there's not as much of their stinky waste products.

Wash your clothes regularly. The same bacteria from your skin can also live on sweaty clothes and keep the smell alive.

Use a deodorant or anti-perspirant. Deodorants cover up bad smells with good ones, and anti-perspirants temporarily block bacteria from getting into the sweat glands so you don't sweat as much.

Dust with talcum powder or cornstarch after bathing. These products absorb sweat to keep you drier and prevent bacteria from growing.

Cut your caffeine intake. Cola, coffee, tea, chocolate, and other foods and drinks with caffeine make apocrine sweat glands more active.

Eat a balanced diet and drink lots of water. What you eat can actually affect how you smell! You'll be less stinky if you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. And drinking lots of water keeps eccrine glands active to dilute the scent.

    I hope this helps,

    good luck

  4. Ok, you are showering.  Are you also using a wash clothe to wash your groin and between the cheeks?  Maybe that's what they are remarking about.

    I really hope I'm wrong.

  5. use a deodrant or a perfume.. use a good body wash and lotions.. perhaps ask a pharmacist.. or like a doctor..

  6. Maybe you should check your diet.Is it something you might be eating.Shave the hairs under your arms. What about fragrance shampoos and conditioners. You might also try going to the doctor and letting them test you.

  7. use stonger deoderant. wash clothes alot. use perfume. pick a good smelling strong scented body wash. idk!

  8. The deoderant that your wearing probably isn't good for you? Sometimes they can actually make you smell worse then before! Go to a health shop and buy a "crystal" roll on deoderant. It will work wonders!

  9. what part of your body is the odor coming from..it all depends and although perfume is good...you should never use perfume to cover up an odor, it makes it worse.  body sprays are better, feminine wipes and a strong deodorant.  Clinical Secret is very good, I have been using it and I don't sweat as much and I have no under arm odor at all.  It lasts through the night also.  And yes, you need to wash with a washclothe when showering or bathing. ...not just a bar of soap or your hands.  I teach that to my 9 year old daughter.  As a woman I think we should all be using wash clothes....now if the odor is coming from your v****a then you may need to see your OBGYN.  So just do a sniff test and try to figure out where the odor is coming from or ask a close good friend or a family member.  If its your breath...flossing will help and Listerine.  Also a dentist appt.

    Good luck!

  10. use scented lotion and perfume

  11. wear some good perfume, perhaps?

  12. See your doctor, you may have a problem that can easily be fixed.:)

  13. deodorant feminine, wipes, possibly a prescription, or a book of matches

  14. In the shower use good smelling shampoo and conditioner that match, like Pantene Pro-V, also use matching scented body wash, lotion and body spray. Then use a clinical strength deodorant like Degree or Secret, put on some clean clothes and give yourself another spritz with the spray. Oh also the body washes, lotions, and sprays from Victoria's Secret smell really good.

  15. maybe u should switch ur deoderant
