....was a bird. Can someone clear this up for me? I'm trying to decide which bird to cheer for...a Penguin or a Red Wing Blackbird.

  1. it might've had something to do w/ their former name ... the Falcons.

James Norris changed the logo to the winged wheel based on his days w/ the Montreal HC team, the Winged Wheelers

also, Olympia Stadium (where the wings played until 1979) was nicknamed "the old red barn".

  2. It is a Red Wing Blackbird, quite common in the North East of US - Go Wings!! Your previous answer was good about the thought of fish, go with something that can FLY!!

  3. No, no, no, pumpkin, you got it all wrong.  A red wing is what happens when you chop off the extremities of a Blackbird.

  4. Sigh................

I loved the Old Red Barn!

  5. A Redwing is when the bird doe not use sunscreen.

  6. Go for the Red Wing - they sing sweetly, are way cuter than penguins (and they live in this hemisphere) and they don't smell of fish!

If you're talking about the hockey teams, it's Wings all the way for me - you'll have to decide on your own which of them sings, smells nice or is cute!

Edit:  You:  Old Red Barn?  I didn't know that one, fun. There's no mention of red winged blackbirds in the 'history' section of the Wings website, but I wondered, once I'd seen one in our backyard, whether there was a connection.  It made me go looking for info anyway.

  7. Penguins, they are the cutest animals ever!

  8. Well it is people up here shoot them and Ravens for target practice (I think its awful!!)  I'm going with the Penguin there the cuter bridy. (I'm actually speaking of the brid, I'm not going bunny)
