“I am 100 percent fit” declares New York Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning – NFL News Update
After leaving Wednesday’s practice session owing to a stomach ache, New York Giants’ quarterback, Eli Manning, returned in perfect shape to attend the team training on Thursday, January 19, 2012, and declared that he is 100 percent fit and healthy.
A day earlier, Manning left the practice session and was placed on the injury list due to what now seems as a minor illness, and backup quarterback, David Carr, took most of the reps.
Despite missing the practice, Manning did not leave the team’s facility and attended the club meeting later in the day.
On Thursday, he did a complete workout and stated that he was feeling fresh and great.
“I’m 100 percent”, Manning claimed. “I had a full practice today, I did everything, took every rep. I feel good. Yesterday, I at least got to be here and getting into all the meetings and go through the walkthrough. I didn’t take any live reps, but I know
the game plan, I know what’s going on. The arm felt good today, it felt fresh, and it (the ball) was coming out good”.
The Giants are going to play San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, in the National Football Conference (NFC) championship game, the winner of which will also qualify for the Super Bowl mega event.
Manning’s participation in the game is of primary importance for the Giants as he has led the team to victories on numerous occasions and is renowned for his ability to perform well under extreme pressure.
The Giants have, throughout this National Football League (NFL) season, displayed a tremendous game-play in the final quarters with Manning initiating plenty of scoring moves.
If such a valuable player misses one of the most important games of the season then hopes of many are bound to be crushed.
However, that is not going to be the case now as Manning is available and coach, Tom Coughlin, also thinks that his absence from Wednesday’s session is not going to affect the team’s preparations.
“He had already done all his classroom work. What he missed was the after-practice work and then he was able to come in this morning and do some of that", Coughlin said of Manning.
With Manning sound and healthy along with the defence and offence performing exceptionally well, the 49ers should sense a tough battle on Sunday.
