I am 12 and i have an ovarian cyst?

Is this normal? i had really bad pain on my right side of my stomach so i went to the doctor and got an ultra-sound. i have several ovarian cyst and the doctor said that i will get my period soon. Advice? Comments?

  1. Ovarian cysts are fairly common and they usually clear up on their own.  I wouldn't worry too much about that.  The pain isn't fun though.  Take some ibuprofen and put a heating pad on your abdomen.  I hope you feel better :)


  2. Your case should be normal, so you better forget about it and enjoy your life.

    Most ovarian cysts are functional in nature, and harmless (benign). In the US, ovarian cysts are found in nearly all premenopausal women, and in up to 14.8% of postmenopausal women. The incidence of ovarian carcinoma is approximately 15 cases per 100,000 women per year.

    But if you have it larger than two centimeters then it can be serious if you are getting pain.

    Any ovarian follicle that is larger than about two centimeters is termed an ovarian cyst.

    Some ovarian cysts cause problems, such as bleeding and pain. Surgery may be required to remove cysts larger than 5 centimeters in diameter.
