  2. There are two types of doctors. A person with a doctorate (PhD

DLit) is an academic who has researched a subject topic for several years and published his or her findings.Usually academics work in universities as teachers or research institutes as researchers.

A person with a initial degree on a medical science (Bachelor of medicine or Bachelor of surgery or both) also called doctors. They work at hospitals or GP surgeries.

Usually they follow a training under a specialist for two years after their initial degree as a house officer looking after his patients before they are allowed to register and practice their own. They may study for an other few years selecting a speciality to become consultants .

There are hundreds of specialities ranging from GP to Psychiatry.

  3. After seven years of training you can become a general practitioner (GP).  I am sure you will already have had something to do with your local surgery and will understand the workings of this part of the NHS.  If you wish to specialize there is Surgery.  A surgeon can operate on any part of the body he/she has specialized in, such as brain surgery or orthopaedics (bone surgery).  There are specialist who look after the sick with complaints to all the vital organs, heart, liver, kidneys.  There are some doctors who specialize in Cancer (oncology) and some in paediatrics (child doctor).  The list is endless but you will be able to decide on a speciality as you go through University to become a doctor.

Perhaps you could ask your own local GP about your ambition.

  4. First get your 5 A Grades.

  5. I'm 14 and i want to be doctor

  6. Hi , you have years to go yet, with your GCSEs you need to make sure you study all 3 sciences and you will need to get good grades in your GCSEs (but don't worry because you have got a few years yet :-) then you need to take A Levels I think chemistry, biology maybe maths or physics and then another of your choice so (3-5 A Levels depending on what you can cope with) Then you will have to get AAB or AAA in your A Levels and go to a medical school for 5 years. But don't worry too much I am not 100% on what A Level subjects you need you would have to talk to your teachers when you get there but this is what my brother is planning on taking (he wants to be a Doctor)

Make sure you just focus on what you are doing at the moment as you may change your mind. When I was your age I was planning to be a nanny or nursery nurse, I am know going on to forensic psychology.

    Types of doctors/areas of medicine

There are more than 60 specialties - each is unique but there are many characteristics which are common. You will need to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team in virtually every specialty. Some require particular skills, such as an ability to make decisions in life-threatening situations or confidence with computers. Many require an interest in teaching or research and some require particular manual dexterity.

Medical specialties broadly fall into one of the following categories.

    anaesthetics

    general practice

    medicine

    obstetrics and gynaecology

    ophthalmology

    paediatrics

    pathology

    psychiatry

    radiology

    surgery (including dental surgery)

Good Luck and don’t put yourself under to much pressure xxxx :-)

  7. You can be a doctor. Get through your exams first and then decide if there is an area where you would like to specialise.

I used to work in gynaecology. The hospital I worked for are very good and let me go back once a month just so that I could keep my hand in.

  8. you need very good grades and then do a medical degree at university and then specialise

  9. GP,

    Anaesthetist (after some extra training),

    Hospital doctor.

If you are ambitious enough, you would be doing this research yourself.
